Very Happy. Next to no input lag if you plug into actual Gaming Monitor instead of TV.
When I saw the reviews about input lag I had a sneaking suspicion I knew what the problem was. For context: I'm building a retro set up and have an RCA to HDMI converter for everything plugged to an ASUS 1ms 1080p gaming monitor. For things like Sega/SNES/NES it works fine but I needed something for my PS1 and PS2 because it makes the picture VERY washed out (again it was cheap lol). I didn't want to spend a ton of money on a Retrotink so I gave this cord a try. Short Story Long the cord works extremely good for the money. Picture looks amazing on my monitor (tried it on God of War 2, FF 10, and FF 12 so far) The input lag if it is there is incredibly minimum. I played Guitar Hero 2 and 3 and Killzone for a long while to try to detect any. I was able to play at the highest difficulty on both games and again if there is lag it was probably in my head because I'm rusty at all these games I played 20 years ago. So at least for my purchase my suspicion was correct, all these people plugging it into a 4k TV in their living room are of course going to get input lag just like with a PS5. Its why gamers spend so much money on fast GAMING MONITORS. So I highly recommend for anyone, but if you're plugging into your non gaming TV probably is going to not work great on twitch shooters but look AMAZING on RPGs.

Better than any cheap brand from any electric store.
This is a big difference compared to the Onn brand that I bought at Walmart. I threw that away as soon as I got impressed with how much better this hyperkin made my ps2 games look. The onn brand made it look more fuzzy or hazzy and I had to squint my eye to have me see what im actually looking at. I definitely recommend having this.

Ok budget minded buyer...
So you have a PSX/PS2 laying around from your childhood, maybe ya bought one off ebay to re-live your childhood. you hook it to your flat panel, and the thing looks like crap... so you go looking for a modern solution and you find that "HDMI modding" a console is tricky and very expensive, and scalers are just as bad. so you go looking on amazon and you find a TON of cables that claim they do the job, ya buy one and somehow its worse. well budget minded buyer, this is the cable you should have gone with from the start. Its not the best / cleanest / whatever way to get it done, but it works reasonably well, and you can at least get a clear picture out of it. Is it going to beat or match a proper full digital HDMI mod? nope, but if you just want to casually pick up a playstation and re-live a game or 2 it gets the job done just fine. there are better more expensive options out there, but if you are the sort to actually buy that stuff... you wouldnt be reading this review. now speaking of scalers, I have personally tested this thing with a Morph 4k, and it was passable, its not going to blow everyone away with its awesome picture, but youll at least be able to read the in game text clearly, and it doesnt ghost crazy bad like the cheaper ones can. if you are here at the end of this rant, go on buy one... it will do the job just fine

A mixed bag. I'll explain...
I ordered two of these, one for my PS1 and one for my PS2. One worked great and one did not. I tested both Hyperkin units with both consoles and switched them, too. One unit was determined to be defective, so I returned it for a replacement. By defective, I mean that the video and audio signals would skip in and out intermittently. The takeaway from this is that there appears to be at least some propensity for factory defective devices. My suggestion is this: If you can't get your unit to work, consider swapping it out with a replacement. It's probably not your fault that it's not working. As for the functional unit I installed, it's working well and functions as described. Easy to install and configure, cable length is excellent, instructions are pretty clear, etc. I haven't encountered the discoloration or input lag others have reported. No complaints there. Just try it out and test it for yourself. Chances are that you'll be pleased.

excellent for ps2. Makes the ps2 able to play ps1 games on newer tvs. Amazing picture quality.
This worked EXCELLENT. I thoguht my ps2 lazer was bad because it would not play ps1 games tho it played ps2 games fine (or so i thought). I Tried everything, even got a ps1. Turns out the ps1 wouldnt play games either. Then i realized it was my TV all along was not accepting the 240p signal from the ps1 at all, and my ps2 seemed to not play ps1 games because the ps2 flips from 480i to 240p output when playing ps1 discs, SO my newer (2021) smart tv was not reckognizing the output! Used this chord, and PROBLEM SOLVED! PS2 now plays PS1 games on my newer tv perfectly fine! The QUALITY of the output is ACTUALLY stunning! It really is. I dont even remeber these games looking this good when i was a kid playing them on the old fat screen and plasma tvs they were built for! Both PS2 and PS1 games EASILY look 2-3x better, the higher RES PS2 games such as jak2/3, newer mx vs atv ect games that were made in higher resolutions- see the biggest improvement! But ALL look DRASTICALLY better. This is a VERY good hdmi chord for the ps2. have not tried on the ps1. sure its the same deal id assume. they are the same exact chord sockets/ wire pin layout. and the switch goes to 4/3.. so it should be great for the ps1 itself... amazing for the ps2, AMAZINGER for high res PS2 games.

This cable is HORRENDOUS!
Do not purchase this cable! Seriously, even if you are not the type to notice input lag or even know what it is YOU WILL LEARN THE DEFINITION OF INPUT LAG, If you purchase this cable. The input lag itself is enough to make anyone hate this cable. But if you are a glutton for punishment, then you will also come to find even though this cable is an HDMI converter DOES NOT mean you will get an HD picture as this cable is advertised. You CANNOT use component settings with this cable it MUST remain on RGB. your standard 1 yellow cable for picture. you cannot put this into an HD picture AT ALL. this cable is an enormous waste of money and should not cost more than $10 with it's unacceptable amount of input lag and it's 480i capable signal. Do yourself a favor and just buy retro vision component cable and gaming component to HDMI converter (around $40. Too cheap will result in a lot of noise in the image)

So worth it!
I recently bought a PS2 to relive all the great games I used to play as a teenager. I rarely leave reviews unless I’m extremely wowed or very upset by a product. Honestly I was really scared to order this (because of the mixed reviews I read) in case it was a disappointment. Trying to play this game on my Phillips 55” 4k tv was horrible and made me not even want to play any of my games. Midnight Club Ride 3 DUB edition was pretty much impossible to play because I could barely see anything. Baulders Gate: Dark Alliance 2 was absolutely terrible, everything kind of blended together and was super blurry. This cord is absolutely amazing. It is obviously not a Retrotink 5x but there is a big difference; enough for me to be able to play until I can afford one. These pictures are a before and after. Even though it’s not a super drastic difference, you can see the words better and the graphics are more crisp. So happy to be able to play these old games I haven’t played in almost 20 years! If you can’t afford a Retrotink this is the affordable way to go. 100% recommend this cord. Update: Added pictures from Midnight Club and Kingdom Hearts. These are from my LG 40” 4k tv.

Very bad!! heed my warning
If you want better quality just buy component cable if your tv support it... Much better image quality

Extremely high quality, inexpensive HDMI converter for PS2 and PS1 games.
Easy to setup, just plug in the HDMI cable to the tv, plug in the display cable to the PS2, and plug in the USB power into a USB socket such as a power bar. Display is crisp and the colour is really good. Top notch piece of gear for a ridiculously affordable price. There’s a lot of similar cables on the market, but Hyperkin’s is likely the best. They’re quite reputable and I’ve had good results with previous pieces of their equipment. This has made me just as happy. I did have an issue with a new Sony 4K TV where the HDMI connection would drop every 15 minutes or so (screen goes black with no audio for 2-3 seconds) but this was not an issue with the cable. Turned out it was also rarely doing it with other HDMI inputs like my Nintendo Switch. It was resolved after doing a TV update, so if you’re running into any issues like this when using this cable, it’s pretty much guaranteed to not be the cable’s fault. Try doing a hardware update for your TV which will likely resolve it. I’ve previously tried another brand of a cheap AV2HDMI component to HDMI cable for my PS2 and had very poor results with it (blurry image). Hyperkin’s product is top of the line as far as what’s on the market for inexpensive HDMI cables for PS2 if you want to avoid having to invest in a really expensive, high end upscaler.
