One of the best movies I've ever seen
The story, acting, setting, pace, visuals, creativity, action and character development are incredible. I rarely get emotional but this one got to me, especially at the end. The transition to its sequel is also notably seamless which I really appreciated. It's one of those movies I'll end up rewatching several times just to share the experience with close friends and I'm honestly looking forward to it. I want to express my appreciation for everyone involved in making such a great film. It easily deserves a place among my favorite movies I've ever seen.

better than expected and quite thought provoking
I was expecting a somewhat entertaining fantasy movie, but it ended up being more than that. I am not really one to enjoy a subtitled movie, but the story, effects and acting totally made me forget about that.It is fantasy so none of it is supposed to make sense, yet so much of it does, and it made me reflect on my own choices and crossroads in life. If you have a soul, you will cry in places, and it may sound stupid but it made me want to do better in this life.

"Wow! Korean firefighters should join the Avengers."
It's said - in keeping with the laws of the afterlife - that those who die must undergo a series of trials; only after being judged innocent in the seven courts of hell will the dead be reincarnated. I'm not savvy with South Korean mythology, so I'm not sure if this premise is cribbed from actual mythology or folklore or if it was made up by Joo Ho-min, who wrote and illustrated the manhwa - which is a general Korean term for comics and print cartoons/webtoons - series this movie is based on. Not that it matters. It's a dope and bombastic premise.Along with the Gods: The Two Worlds presents a sometimes harrowing, sometimes whimsical take on life and death. It hones in on the fate of firefighter Kim Ja-hong (Tae-Hyun Cha), who led a blameless, virtuous life and is thus accorded the honorific of "paragon." As such, the three celestial guardians assigned with defending him in the trials over forty-nine days are become giddy. They think the guy's a shoe-in for reincarnation. But if that's so, this wouldn't be much of a movie.Turns out, it's not as clean cut as the three guardians had assumed. There are questionable things in the firefighter's past that end up muddying the trials. As these moments develop, we're invited to mull over the nature of perception versus reality, the manifold hues of virture, and of rushing to judgment, and what it means to lead a good life. So, yeah, those who step into this expecting an unremitting action-packed motion picture, it's not so. It's a more contemplative movie than that.Firefighter Kim Ja-hong died on schedule on April 28, 2017. The last honorable death was 422 years ago. Paragons don't come a dime a dozen. If the three guardians successfully defend him, and one more paragon after him, then, they, too, shall be reincarnated. For the trivia-heads, it's what happens when a guardian acquits forty-nine paragon souls within a century. It's not meant to be an easy undertaking, not when the seven hells are presided by a pantheon of strange gods. While the firefighter is an interesting character, the three swashbuckling guardians - with their disparate personas - are whom I gravitated to. One (Jung-woo Ha) has a commanding presence and is clearly in charge. One (Ji-Hoon Ju) is impetuous and hotheaded. One (Hyang-gi Kim) is meek and subservient. Meanwhile, the firefighter's mute mother inarguably cuts the most heartbreaking figure.Think Defending Your Life - a 1991 classic about the afterlife that starred Albert Brooks - but with more exuberant sword-fighting. Along with the Gods: The Two Worlds boasts a budget of 40 billion won ($36.6 million), and every cent of it is on the screen. Now, this movie may be drama-driven, but the action beats, when they do come up, are worth the wait. The visuals are stunning, crazy creative, and super-panoramic. The physical interpretation of the seven hells made my jaw drop. And if you were down with the first one, why not check out the second one? The sequel, Along with the Gods: The Last 49 Days, picks up where The Two Worlds leaves off and dives more into the backstories of the three guardians. Just like the original movie, it presents morality themes of which weight is occasionally subverted by goofy humor. And, of course, sword-fighting.

Have seen better but not bad either.
So this story is about a man who passes away and what he is forced to endure in his after life in order to reach the status of reincarnation and is judged for his doings while he was alive by multiple gods. There was action and a plot but something was missing that made it feel incomplete in the end. Also, certain aspects of the movie felt rushed and the character could have been a bit more developed. This makes for a great watch but is definitely not a must watch. There is a sequel to this movie. Hopefully that is better as it seems to have a bit more comedy.

Even After Death Life Goes On So They Say.
Along with the Gods” (The Two Worlds) Exquisite an mostly magnificent is the way to describe this wonderful movie.even in the Afterlife life's a bitch isn’t it. according to Korean folk lore the afterlife makes you soul search your demons.puts you to the test of your happing's on earth an if you’re deem to be guilty you go to the Hell of Death.you see they’re seven different Gods you must pass through to reincarnate. so I’m thinking why bother going through that now.I don’t think I’ve ever ever had a most an enjoyable time watching a movie like this before.its like that T.V. church show where the guy tells you to put your hands on the T.V. screen an you’re healed. but this movie.makes you feel good after watching it if you succumb to it then relaxes you. forget everything that you think you know about afterlife.and see this swirling masterpiece of the. For Whom The Bell Tolls. when you think you know how to be mean to people look out.you’re actually looking at your self twice. very good movie to see.Even After Death Life Goes On So They Say.Runtime 140 Min.Widescreen 2.35:1Korean 5.1 DTS-HD Master with English Subtitles. no Eng.
