Flickering 2.5 years in. Acer puts minimal effort into honoring warranty
I bought 2 of these. After some color adjustments, I would consider them quality looking monitors. About 30 months after buying, one of them got horizontal flickering lines of static that showed up about a quarter of the time the monitor is in use. It would go away if I lightly shook the monitor, but it always comes back. I controlled for things like cables, bad ports, and video sources. I paid ~$30 to send it in for warranty repair with a very detailed description of the issue. I received it 5 weeks later (with a minor scratch) saying that they didn't see the issue and no repairs were done. Next time, I'll be avoiding Acer monitors since they put minimal effort into honoring their warranties.

The story of the Pen, the Banana, and the Red Pixel, starring the Acer K242HL
I bought this monitor after I was spinning a pen around really fast with a long piece of tape when the tape snapped and flew into my old monitor at mach 5. It left a crack the size of Wisconsin and made the monitor do a totally rad glitching effect. I got this monitor because I use two monitors and I had bought one of these a couple years prior during Black Friday and wanted to get a matching one. Lucky for me the monitor was the same price the second time even though it wasn't Black Friday, but just because it was old and our technology evolves at a rate that would make the The Singularity proud. The monitor itself is pretty decent, I like how the frame is nice and slim, it's like looking into a fancy picture frame from the future. Now that I have two of the same it was strange to find that they have slightly different colors and brightnesses at factory default settings, but that might be just because the old one has been on continuously since I first got it two years ago apart from that one time when I got a new space heater that blew out the circuit fuse. That said, I do a lot of graphics work like photoshopping faces onto bananas and this monitor works fine for that. I was disappointed to find that the new one has one stuck pixel that is always red on the very left of the screen. You can only see it when that part of the screen is dark, so if I just leave my cursor over it you can't even tell. I'm currently training myself to idle my cursor in that spot, but usually I forget because it's not actually that big of a deal. I would probably ask for a replacement but that is going to take a lot of effort and I have a lot of banana photoshopping and pen spinning to do. My only other complaint is that the screen doesn't tilt very far, so when you have the posture of a melted popsicle like me sometimes you wish it tilted down a little more. I would give it a 4.5 out of 5, but i had to round down to 4 to preserve the laws of entropy.

was great when it worked, started to cycle infinitely on/off. Useless now.
It was great looking monitor when it worked but it started to cycle on/off. It seems quality issue showing up with product after some time. It's past warranty period so I can't do much. I bought if from different vendor but it's the same model. So it's useless now and I'm looking to buy replacement. My similar ViewSonic that I bough earlier is still the same way when I bought it. Mo older Samsung 22inc still works. Hm... what a thought. Why did I give a chance to Acer?

Auto input switching? Not cool
It's a decent lower-end monitor. However, the biggest problem I have is that I have 2 computers plugged into this and need to switch between the two quite often. But, when my main system goes to screensaver - the monitor switches automatically to the other computer input! So everytime I come back from a break, etc I have to change the inputs on the monitor, not cool. There doesn't seem to be a way (I can find) to STOP the monitor from automatically changing inputs on its own! Pretty poor design if you ask me. Let me control the inputs manually!

Great Monitors
I bought two of these monitors for my programming/gaming rig and I LOVE them, very nice panels. Some of the pictures are not clear, so I will sum up the I/O on the monitor, 1 HDMI, 1 VGA, 1 DVI & 1 standard power supply input. One thing I did not like however was the glossy finish, this is personal preference, so I got some steel wool and made them mate. Now, they are perfect.
