Great alternative to Ibuprofen
I'm prone to heavy periods with bad cramps, so I was always chugging ibuprofen during my entire cycle. I started getting awful stomach pains from taking so much though, so I looked for an alternative. (I will say though that the ibuprofen did lighten my period). I came across this product, saw the glowing reviews, and figured I'd give it a try. While it does take slightly longer to kick in, it definitely does work, and lasts much longner than Advil does. I can take 1 of these before going to sleep, and not wake up with horrible cramps, like I would with Advil.I haven't tried taking more than 1 at a time, after reading the review that stated she was knocked out by taking 2. One seems to work pretty well, but I can definitely see the need to take 2 on the first super heavy, crampy day. Also, these work for about 9 hours tops for me before I start feeling cramps creep up again.Highly recommended if you can take Aleve type pain meds (which is what this is). Very effective and long lasting, with no stomach discomfort.

Started taking this the first month of not being on birth control after 15+ years (potential crisis averted!) Total life saver.
I've been on birth control for about 15 years. I recently decided to get off it and I was worried that I would have debilitating cramps or horrible PMS (channeling my 18-year-old self.) I took one tablet on the first day I started feeling my period coming on (PMS, headaches, body aches...you know the "off" feeling) and took it once daily for about 3 days until my period started. I started my period and my cramps and symptoms were less than they were when I was on the pill! I couldn't believe it. I'm totally sold and I think I averted a potential crisis. I just wish I knew about this product years ago!

You get your life back...or, rather, the few days a month you were missing out on.
I'm really not into pain killers. After breaking my nose, after having my wisdom teeth removed, after laparoscopic surgery...the pills were there, people were very insistent I take the pain killers, but I've never been interested. The same was true of period pain, but - oh my goodness! One day in college I found myself squirming around on my bed for hours trying to find a way to make the pain manageable. I finally decided that I was being absurd. There were pain killers for that...I'd seen the commercials! It took me some time to convince myself to get in the car and get the focus to drive to the store. But eventually I did, I got the midol extra strength, and came back home. One pill did nothing, the second pill made me lose consciousness. But I woke up feeling ok...it was amazing! Since then midol extra strength has been a must have. As soon as I feel the pain start, I pop one, and keep popping whenever the pain starts to come back. The two times in the years since that I wasn't able to take a pill until after the pain was intense, there was nothing I could do to stop the pain. Both times I had to take the rest of the day off work, get home, pop two pills, and lose consciousness...which is to say, these are powerful pills, but there's also a strategy to using them effectively. When Menstridol was manufactured to replace Extra Strength, I was forced to switch over. The primary difference to the consumer was a supposed 12-hour effectiveness rather than 4-6 hour of Extra Strength. The Menstridol is longer lasting, though 12 hours is a little ambitious, but beyond that, to me its just like the Extra Strength. Time limits aside (and not that I'm recommending anyone disregard the product label!) I just keep popping a new pill when the old one starts to wear off. I do hate that I have to preempt the pain rather than wait until I need something to subdue the pain, but experience has taught me this is an all or nothing solution. So - if anyone is reading this who is on the fence about taking a pain killer...we're talking about at least a couple days out of every month of your life...for decades. If you've got bad menstrual pain, and no medical reason not to take analgesics, I highly recommend taking the pills, and turning all those days into normal, functions days, rather than just days you endured.

It works...but it's the same as Aleve
This is a wonderful product, the only product that I have found that helps my cramps. I order it on Amazon often, because it is so expensive. Out of curiosity, I looked for an off-brand version. After looking at the active, and inactive, ingredients I noticed that it has the SAME ingredients as Aleve, which is much cheaper, especially off brand Aleve.

Hoping good substitute but bring back original Midol PLEASE
Daughter misses Midol as it's the only thing that helps relieve her cramps. OTC Midol complete adds antihistamine for some unknown reason - please bring back the original sans antihistamine. Hoping this works as well as original Midol.

Not entirely sure of the source
I think they served their purpose BUT the box arrived pretty beat up.. with a price attached (apparently from a drug store) that was about 3 times the price I paid. It made me think somehow a bunch of medicine "fell off the back of a truck" or something and made me worried it wasn't obtained in a kosher manner or maybe wasn't what it purported to be. That said, all the other reviews were good and I thought maybe I was over thinking it, and at some point ran out of my Ibuprofen and went ahead and tried them. And if it wasn't just the placebo effect (unlikely because I was skeptical of them), they seemed to work.

It's Good BUT
This is a good product; it helps with the cramps but it makes me moody so I only use it when I run out of Pamprin Max Formula.
