CaribSea Purple Up Algae Accelerator, 8-Ounce

This product works just as advertised. I may not add daily as it suggested but I had an issue that wiped all my coralline algae out. I saw nothing but a tiny spec of coralline left. I started adding this product daily for a few days and it started to bounce back. It is now all over the tank again. I probably remember to add it only a couple times every week and things are staying healthy.

I ordered this product not really expecting much, when I received it, dumped 2 capfuls as the instructions said and the next day I went on a trip to Florida, when I came back, 5 days later the whole piece of rock was a blueish, pinkish and purplish color I was so amazed that I wrote a review about this amazing product!!!!!

The stuff is basically calcium, but I've always used it when setting up tanks and IMO it does what it's supposed to do. I have spots of purple and pink coralline algae on new base rock I added after 5 weeks. Of course I put a couple pieces of live rock in to seed the tank and the frags I put in had their plugs covered. Purple Up just makes sure the calcium (not sure if it has magnesium or not) levels are correct. Do you need it? No. Is it cheaper than changing water and dosing calcium and magnesium when setting up a new system? Yes.

The only way to make sure this product works is by using its entire bottle as intended and be patient! Can’t expect coraline algae growth after a week!

I put this in a new 60g tank. I had purple spots all over the live rock VERY quickly. I did have one or two other rocks which already had coraline on it but I'm not sure if it would have propagated as quick without the product. I think its worth it from my experience.

Looks like this stuff has spiked my Caroline algae within just a few weeks!

Don't do it.. absolutely terrible product.. amd I had an increase of green algae in my tank. Also my fish were hiding and my Angel Fish died along with a clownfish. Never Again..

Love it, Love it, Love it. Tried another brand and yielded zero results. Purple Up truly works and has worked for me everytime. Stay on top of dosing per instructions and you'll be amazed at how fast the results hit.

Some people say it grows the different types of algae that Reef keepers desire and others say it doesn't work. It does raise the calcium and alkalinity which are the two benefactors in how that corline algae grows. If you do have any speckles of purple on your rocks or glass the stuff definitely will accelerate the growth and also keep your SPS happy. Now the negative side! Amazon Amazon, what the hell is wrong with you people jamming products into a paper bubble envelope and expect it to survive? The bottle was as should be placed in the sealed plastic bag to protect against leakage. When I opened up the plastic baggie there was condensation inside and the label on the bottle was starting to wrinkle up. And on the back side where the directions are some of that label is missing. Thankfully I've used the stuff before and know the dosing requirements but for a first-timer using this stuff they would need to get on to the internet and find out exactly how much the dose your tank.
