Comfortable and convenient.
The Mephisto has to be one of the very best mechanical pencils. If you like Pentel's P205, you'll have to find something in this Koh-I-Noor to raise a brow. Slightly elegant, mostly simple, and nothing short of practical. The rubber finger grip is form fitted to prevent slippage, and the screw-out eraser is up to the task for small errors, erasing well. It fits well in hand and the chrome-y touches make whatever you're writing seem more important. It has a light, thin feel at the grip, and seems well suited for doing math and comfortable enough for journaling. The Mephisto is shameless, and has every right to be.

A very nice mechanical pencil
I use this pencil for drawing and sketching. This is a well designed, quality made mechanical pencil. The body is plastic, but it doesn't look or feel cheap. It is thin, but the rubber grip is very comfortable. I like it better than a knurled grip. The eraser twists out the top (no cap to pull off and lose). The one down side is the metal lead guard does not retract into the pencil, so the point can easily get bent if you drop it. I have to say, this is a nice looking professional pencil. I am a pen and pencil geek (full disclosure) and own several more expensive pencils, but this has quickly become a favorite and I use it daily. I just like the way it feels. And for the price, it's a good deal. If you are a mechanical pencil geek, (or a normal person who just wants a nice mechanical pencil) this needs to be in your collection.

My fav mechanical pencil.
Can't express how much I love these. I'm a designer/draftsman/engineer so I use mechanical pencils for hours a day. The Pentels are really great but these are just hands down better. They will last you a lifetime. The only reason I had to buy another one is because I think after 7 years someone finally walked off with it. Not sure but my new one doesn't say it's made in Czechoslovakia like my old one. It seems exactly the same, except for a visible (not not feelable) line on the finger cushion. Not sure where these are made. I'd give 5 star if I knew they were still made in EU but will give 4 star because they might be made in china.

Great Feel and Balance
I've had this for one day and I don't want to put it down. The feel and balance are perfect. I'm not at artist, just a guy who likes to doodle. I have a 2mm lead holder that I use with several different grades of lead and I wanted a 0.5mm pencil for doing quick layouts and for sketching practice. I'm finding it to be great not only for laying down lines and shapes, but it also works well for creating shading. The lead that comes in this pencil is nice, although I'm not sure what grade -- 2B perhaps? Anyway, I loaded it up with Pentel HB which is what I like for general purpose use. The eraser mechanism is quite nice. I seldom use an eraser on a pencil, preferring to use either a plastic or kneedable eraser, but this one is so interesting that I just ordered a pack of Koh-I-Nor eraser refills for it.

Erasers are a little too big and don't fit right
I have used these before on my Koh-I-Noor mephisto mechanical pencil and they worked okay. I just ordered them again recently and they just don't work. They are too big. What to do now?
