14 TB of Yumminess
I purchased this drive to use in my high end desktop rig (at home) mainly to store raw files of time lapse shots. The drive came in an anti-static bag inside a form-fitting airbag (see pic), which itself was snug inside the box, and is as protective as one can get in shipping delicate hard drives. After opening I immediately started a slew of stress tests before commissioning the drive in my computer. I first performed a 24 hour continuous random seek test (see pic) which showed an average seek time of 12 ms and no abnormal behavior. Temperature variations are within normal range, and only due to changes in day and night ambient temperatures (~85 F ambient temperature at the hottest). Next I performed 3 pairs of write+read tests on the drive where the data was written and read consecutively. This took 115 hours to complete (see last 3 pics, I left it running while on a weekend trip out of town) and everything passed with no errors. Again temperature variations were due to day/night time ambient temps, but overall stayed well below dangerous levels. Max read and write rates were ~265 MB/s (using the convention 1 MB = 1000 KB, not Windows which is 1 MB = 1024 KB) using Crystal Disk Mark. Noise-wise it is actually pretty quiet relatively speaking, about on par with my WD Black drives. In conclusion I'm quite pleased with it, will update if anything changes.

Good with an older Mac! No problems in use.
Reorganizing my backup system, and trying to save space in my safe, I'm using this as a backup drive for 4 other drives which reside in a Mac Pro (Early 2009) tower. I popped it into my Startech "toaster"-style SATA hard drive holder. It spun up and then I got a screen dialog saying the disk could not be read and needed to be formatted (this is normal with a new drive on a Mac). I used Disk Utility to first erase the disk and then to create 4 partitions of different sizes for the various drives I wanted backed up: an SSD boot drive plus 3 data drives which vary in size from 2 to 8 terabytes. I had no problems formatting, partitioning, or copying data to this drive in a few hours of use so far. At this writing this was the cheapest 14tb drive I could find at 529 bucks. I can't comment on its speed as this isn't an issue in my use as I will only use it for backups at night, but I will report here again if I have any problems with this drive. When received it was well-packed in a nice thick protective bubble-bag, inside a cardboard box, which inspires confidence that these drives will survive shipment unlike some I have received. I should add however that my drive has a different label than the one shown in the listing. Mine is a generic white label which does say "Toshiba" and "14TB" among other data on it.

Great Product, But Nothing's Perfect
I have or had 5 of these + 3 of the 16TB model. Overall, I have to admit I am pleased with them, but I did have one go "bad" on me. I put bad in quotes because the Synology software kicked it out of the volume and said it needed to be replaced, even though in the drive stats, it reported as healthy. When I called their support, I was told that the drive had one of the indicators the drive was about to go bad. I couldn't risk my data. So, I bought a 16TB to replace it in the meantime while I wait for RMA. It had been in use for around a year. All my other drives are going well so far. RMA said about 30 days to replace. Hopefully that goes well....

I *think* these are new drives.
With this type of listing, there's often a question about whether you're buying new or refurbished drives, which matters a lot with respect to the drives' expected service life. These appear new. I bought two of them from SabreTech in late March 2020. They arrived quickly, packaged in plastic clamshells but without anti-static bags. They showed a manufacture date of May 2019. Despite the lack of anti-static bags, I couldn't see any evidence that they had previously been used or mounted in a system (screw holes were clean, SATA and power pins were clean, no scratches, etc.). SMART hours were zero. Toshiba's warranty checker shows the warranty as good until November 2024.The drives themselves are a bit noisy, especially when seeking, but otherwise work as advertised. These have accumulated a very good reliability record in data center service, so I have confidence in using them in my NAS (which is in use 24/7 and shared by six computers in the household).

HDD unusable after 3 months
Purchased this HDD because of prior reviews. Worked well out of the box but now approximately 3 months later the HDD is experiencing multiple errors and on occasion will not boot. I purchased a lower capacity Toshiba about a year ago and had similar issues except much earlier after I purchased so I returned the drive and went with an WD HDD and it is working wonderfully like the rest of my WD and most of my Seagate HDDs. I guess I am slow on the uptake for getting this drive since I had issues with Toshiba before -- but no more Toshibas for me. Hope others have better experiences.

Toshiba will not honour warranty
I phoned Toshiba UK to find out how much warranty my new enterprise class drive had left on it. I was passed from pillar to post and after phoning 4 different toshiba numbers I ended up in Toshiba Germany. Toshiba will not honour warranty on these drives. They state the serial number means they are OEM and supplied by the dealer. The dealer in this case is Amazon. Amazon will only guarantee the Enterprise drives for two years (these drives are supposed to have 5 years warranty) and after that Amazon tell you to send it back to the manufacturer. The manufacturer have stated they will not take these drives back under warranty. What an awful mess.

Great value, but noisy enough to wake the dead
I bought four of these for a NAS after extensive research. In terms of what's on the spec sheet, they blow the usual competition for NAS storage drives out of the water. They're cheaper, have lower URE rates, and very respectable MTBF times et al. I ran them for a month problem free, so while not long enough to get a true idea of review, I got a feel for their general characteristics in operation. In reviewing which drives to go for, something I hadn't bothered to take heed of is how noisy the drives would be. The first time I powered up the NAS in my living room I couldn't believe how noisy four of these operating at once were. The humming sound can only be described as a constant booming base note that is felt rather than heard and whenever the drives were accessed the sound is like a deep thrum that resonates around the room. I am a light sleeper and no matter where I placed the NAS in my home the sound of it operating disturbed my sleep - placing two walls between it and me still didn't fully filter out the sound!Unfortunately largely due to this noise issue I reconsidered my use of a NAS in the home. My concluding words would be, if you need excellent value enterprise storage in a situation where noise isn't a concern, I would recommend these drives. If noise is a concern I strongly advise against considering these.

Good Value, Excellent HDD
Never had a problem with these Toshiba drives. They are fast and run not too warm (with adequate space around them in a case). Mine have been quiet above the normal hummmm. Saying that though I suspect that the 5 year guarantee may be hard to claim against judging by the previous reviews here and my own perusing of Toshiba support site. Though I have just read somebody did find a way through the not so clear returns procedure. But I will reiterate that I have never had an issue with these drives over three years. Competitive pricing if you catch them when Amazon bounces a low price at you. Also good that they are not manufactured in China.HDD was factory sealed and surrounded in a plastic case , foam and cardboard box. Amazon packaging was fine with plenty of paper to stop it all rattling around the Amazon box.

Fast, benchmarks well and real good value for money. V300 drive.
Bought for my CCTV dvr unit as it's rated well and benchmarks show its faster than most other brands designed for cctv like Seagate and WD. I have noticed a major improvement already as video playback is quicker loading saved surveillance both on the unit and remotely. the saves don't have any juddering and I've noticed the dvr box it's self is now more responsive as if having a larger hdd cache has given the unit less work to do as the saves are getting put to the hdd disk quicker. It's extremely quiet no vibration also and well worth the money per/tb. How long will it last is something to be determined but surely can't be worse than the last generic unbranded hdd I bought that only lasted little over a year.
