Works perfect with my 18" kick
Another review claimed these don't work well with 18" bass drums. It works perfectly with mine and my DW3000 pedal. It also doesn't push my pedal too far back from the drum head. I know not everyone's experience will be same, but mine has been optimal, my kick no longer rests on the floor and my beater hits dead center.UPDATE, 5/21/23: In the time since my initial review, I bought a set of Yamaha Stage Customs. The hoops on the 20" kick are longer than the ones on my old 18". Consequently, the beater was pushed out far enough to the point that it wasn't hitting flush anymore with the head. There's a wonderfully simple solution: The TAMA CB900AS beater. The head can be angled, and now my beater is hitting flush again. In conclusion, the Gibraltar riser is still a great piece of gear, but the length of bass drum hoops will determine whether your beater hits flush. If you get another great piece of gear, the CB900AS, you don't have to worry about the former.

Stupid simple and sturdy, won't mess up your bass drum hoop.
LOOK!!! If it's a Gibraltar, it's NOT junk!!! They don't even understand the word!!!Not a slab of plastic like others, or the superior but VERY expensive DW lift. Always ask "what are you using it for? Home? Local gigs?" If your a studio or touring pro, by all means go DW. For the rest of us mere domesticated players who "need a little pick-me-up," Get the Gibraltar.Simple and sturdy, won't mess up your bass drum hoop. I am using it on a 20" DW set with a DW 7000 single pedal (for now). Yamaha has a very impressive sonic graph denoting how you get more lower-end response using an "elevator" or "lift." The new second generation Yamaha Recording series uses one in their promo with Steve Gadd. The other payback is your BD won't get all scuffed sitting on the floor.INSTALLATION TIP: Remove the mounted toms if you have them, put a solid foam block or woodblock wrapped in a towel under the drum, balance and level it (or angle back a bit), adjust your legs and securely mount the lift. You will need a torx wrench/bit. Remove the blocks. You will have to repostion your toms as they are now one to two inches higher.CONSIDER: With my DW 7000, the pedal's lower mounting bracket NOW sits back from the outside the hoop and is not perpendicular, or to the right angle, of the head, which is OK...else the chain would skuff the hoop. A couple of Allen wrench tweaks and the action I feel is even IMPROVED!

Fits 16 inch bass drum too
I got this for my ludwig pocket drum set. it has a 16 inch bass drum and a riser was not included. This item worked perfectly and even though it came with no directions I was able to get this set up. it works perfectly and now the kick is hitting the center of my bass. I'm new to drumming but it seems Gibraltar products are good quality and should be durable for years.

Another solid gibralter product!
Bought this for my 20in bass drum. Solid and works as advertised. My only complaint, is the added space between pedal and the head. It's not much, but it does push everything back from the hoop. Other than that, it is a great product!

Makes my 18” sound like a 22”
Bought this for my 18” bass drum and I love it. I can extend the beater from my bass pedal now and it feels way more natural. The beater hits in the sweet spot now and even the guys in the band noticed the difference in the sound of my bass drum. Sounds like a bigger drum now. The quality of this piece is great. I’m always amazed at the gear from Gibraltar. I haven’t had any issues with the bolts loosening but I’m sure taking a pair of pliers to the wing nuts would fix anything.

Solid item even years later.
I have had this riser for three years now. No issues whatsoever. It is used to raise my 18” bass off of the floor. I hated how the bass felt (and played) with no riser. Moreover I felt like I was playing a kiddie setup with me being so low to the flor. The riser that came with my Gretsch Catalina was useless. Screw this riser down and you are done. It has not made a single mark in my bass drum rim either. And it’s been in use for years. Solid product. Just get it. :-)
