Excellent activity tracker
It works great for tracking activities. Even when you don’t set the tracker but have your phone, the app will track your activity. I found stats that my friend didn’t know the watch had. Way better than a Fit Bit, IMO.

Good price for a refurbished fitness watch
I'll start by saying the backlight on the watch is much dimmer than the Fitbit Charge 5 that it replaced, and that the pictures of the watch face on Amazon and even on the Garmin website are ALL doctored. Even on Ebay they are often doctored by shining a light at the watch when a picture is taken. The only picture that is accurate is on the DC Rainmaker website. So that is a negative. But, I also know this is done in order to reduce battery consumption so that's a positive. But, otherwise, the watch battery is still good enough to last the day, even when using the GPS which was a big concern with a refurbished watch. These watches are all over Ebay for 50% of the price - but usually lacking the charging cable - and it's a crapshoot with whether the battery is still good in them and if it isn't, you are up a creek with returning them. I really got burned with the unreliable GPS in the Fitbit Charge 5 but with this watch, the GPS and heartrate monitoring work GREAT and the extra cost of buying it from an Amazon seller was worth it. Once the battery wears out I'll replace it - there's videos on doing it and it's not hard to do.

Perfect for Running
This was exactly what I needed - I've been a casual runner training for longer and longer distances. I love using Strava but don't want to drain my battery - so I mainly use this for the activity tracking. You do have to Download the Garmin app (Garmin Connect) but it's very seamless and can automatically upload your activities to Strava (you just need to re-title the activity within Strava). Still, this watch does app tracking, step counter, connects with your phone so you can see text previews, change songs from Spotify, etc. One small note - you can use the Timer function on the watch, and I love that it vibrates instead of beeps (but maybe you can change this).Only potential downsides: I don't believe I can play music from this without being near my phone, so no music storage. Additionally, visually there's not as many customizations on the display screen as I'd prefer, but that's cosmetic and not functional. For a starter smart-watch though, it's been exactly what I needed.

Let’s see in a couple of years
I will know if this watch is any good if it still works after a couple of years. Currently it’s working.

Watch iwas kaput for 12 hours!
I have had my Garmin refurbished Vivoactive 3 for about 3 months. I loved how the watch was keeping me on track with my activity. Today May 2, 2025, after finishing my morning workout, the watch went kaput. I plugged it in to charge and it just locked up. No charging happening. I tried to turn it off with the side button. Nothing happens. Picture shows where it is frozen. Update: After the watch was locked for 12 hours I decided to try again and it is working now. Don't what happened, but hope it holds. I really like the watch.

Garbage. Stay away
Purchased watch for relative. Watch was delivered on time; however, watch should have been delivered to the garbage dump instead. Battery held no charge and the watch alarm went off at 3 00 am. Watch should have never been sold. There are other options available, I would stay away from this purchase as it was a refurbished watch.
