The book left such an impact on me that I took a few days to come out of the world of Yemen and back to reality. Very nicely written book.

Very touching and disturbing story. The writing is not great..as if a small child has written but it's a must read just to appreciate how liberal and free our lives are in comparison. My only complain is there is no update about what happened to the author's sister Nadia and her child. Some rumours say she is back in UK but it would be nice if Zana Muhsen could give definite answers. She has written a best seller that piqued a lot of interest, made a lot of money but has vanished into thin air after that. Not fair. I liked Not without my daughter by Betty Mahmood much much more.
