Q: Can anyone tell me where to get the extensions for these to do 12" siding . I am in Australia so need to get them shipped here

Q: This tool has horrible reviews. Does it work at all? Has anyone made it work?

Yes. I made it work by hooking rubber bands from the side bolts under the lever to hold the tension to keep the gauge in place. While it sounds a little Mickey Mouse, the gauges are actually a huge time saver especially if you are putting the siding up by yourself. If you are using pre-finished Artisan Hardie, the other tip I can give you is to slip a thin shim between the boards at the base of the gauge to lever the boards out a little when installing or removing the gauges. This keeps it from marking the boards and requiring touch up. I would definitely recommend these if you with the above provisions.

Q: Is the green one is plastic? Or aluminum

Plastic. They also are longer than these, which may or may not be good. The plastic has more adjustments as well, but these could be drilled to offer more possibilities. The aluminum ones seem to scrape more when you remove them, so would not be as good on pre-painted boards.

Q: would these work with the sa90338 or the sa903?

No, design and construction do not match up.
