Smaller than Expected
I read that it was a smaller journal, I just didn’t imagine how small. It’s about the height of a male deodorant tube. I purchased this journal for my teen daughter to do her SOAP journaling. She doesn’t write very small but has enough space for the needs. The wrap around rope to secure the journal close gives this personality and kinda has that vintage appeal to it. Almost like back in the Victorian times. My daughter loves that. The paper is thicker than I expected, which makes it seem like higher quality. There was no odors from the leather, it is really a cute little journal. I think the quality is good value for the price.

Autograph Book for people I care about!
This. This has been one of my best decisions/ collections of my life. My Grandma had beautiful handwriting that made me very interested in handwriting. I didn't think to do this while she was alive and that's my only regret. This beautiful, compact book has brown blank pages held in place by a binder clip. You can remove sheets as needed and put them back later! I do this specifically to get autographs from people that I love all over the world. The first page is my handwriting explaining to simply write their name and the date on that paper, in their natural handwriting (preferred over a practiced signature). Then they can add an extra thing if they want to make it unique for me. I started with my husband and will continue to collect. I mail out blank sheets to people I love (I have contacted most all of them first to ask if they're interested and get their mailing address).I included a stamped and addressed return envelope and a printed photo that is related to us both and sentimental. I chose not to tell any of them about the photos. For those I can't really send photos, I send a handwritten note with my name on it, usually with a doodle. Perfect surprise exchange! They can take time to decide what to write or draw specially to me. They can then simply seal it in the prepared return envelope and mail it back to me. I get a sentimental surprise in the mail and it goes back in the book.Love it. Perfect for the sentimental fan of unique handwriting. Could be great for getting all loved ones to sign as a gift before deployment, a long distance move, wedding, job change, graduation, sobriety milestones, etc...I am planning to continue purchasing these for that purpose. I will also be acquiring a brightly colored hardcover blank page book that is larger. That one will be specially for the children of all my friends who I know and live. I hope to have them all write their name or mark on a page that either their parent or I can then caption. Hardcover to make it easier for small children to handle. I'll get their handwriting again and again as they grow! Perfect for future sentimental gifts to their families.

So-so.
Aesthetically, these are beautiful. Vibrant colors on the cover, bound well, paper is a'ight... for writing, or pencil sketching.I paint and draw- and through the decades, I've come to be a novice paper snob. This won't be good for painting. You can remove a page, tape it down, and maybe gesso it prior to painting? But the paper is really not designed for it.Even colored pencils, heavy pencils- I'd be a bit skeptical with it. Feel like it won't like erasing too much. Maybe chalk pastels? Lightly? Otherwise light sketching, or light pen work.Great for writing. If you're left handed you can remove/add pages.Collaging- be prepared to remove a bunch of pages. The binding does not leave much room for adding excess.Otherwise good size for travel. Feels nice. The three rings surprised me on how well they've held together so far. It's cute, but swap out for your own paper, or get a sketchbook instead, if you're looking to art all over it.Again, great for journaling/writing, though. Beautiful little book.

Hmmm almost but not quite
I loved the cover but found the paper inside to be too lightweight for my liking. I enjoy doing mixed media in my journals. This paper would not hold up. I’ll be giving it as a gift.
