Fun and Effective, Just Watch the Salt
Super fun to use and works well on flies—makes pest control feel like a game. Just wish it had a bit more power and used less salt per shot. Still a great backyard toy for adults!

A fun solution to our occasional fly problem.
My son introduced me to this product by gleefully solving his fly problem. No dirty windows to wash, and clean up with a hand vacuum is easy.

Awesome!
I can't believe it took me so long to get one of these bug-a-salt guns. I have a couple of electrified rackets that do a great job of exploding scary spiders, but it only works if you can get within a foot or two of them. I have a vaulted ceiling in my living room, and I think the spiders have figured out that they're safe if they stay above a certain height. Not anymore!Just the other day, one of those large jumping spiders that love to bite humans was hanging out right over my couch, just out of reach. I grabbed the bug-a-salt and sighted as best as I could on the interloper. A squeeze of the trigger later and the spider was on the ground, curled up in its death pose. I easily finished it off with some toilet paper. Now, I'm not a fan of killing things, even insects, but if they come in my house, no mercy. My only concern using this insect-busting tool was getting salt all over the house. Of course, there will be salt grains around, but after blasting that spider, I couldn't find any, and the hopper where you load salt didn't look to be noticeably lower in salt after one shot. I don't think it fires off much salt with each squeeze of the trigger, so fears have been allayed.Using this tool/toy is really easy. You just poor some small grained salt (not kosher or fleur de sel - just table salt) into the hopper and cap it. Then, when you're ready to go hunting, you pump it like a shotgun to pressurize the firing mechanism. Just pump again after each trigger squeeze. It takes a little force to pump, but I think even a small child might be able to manage it with some effort, so do keep this stored out of the little ones' reach. Salt won't kill, but it could definitely damage eyes, so no shooting your friends!

Fun and natural bug solutuon
Got this for my nana who is determined to destroy any bug in her vicinity. The thing I appreciate the most is that this is t for spraying nasty chemicals, just salt based solution.

Life Changing.
My life has officially changed for the better.I have always wanted one of these, but never realized how much I really NEEDED this in my life.We have flies. The flies love our back patio. They especially like it when we run the misters, bbq, or just generally want to be outdoors. Left unmanaged, the white vinyl siding on our house will show the fly (stuff) that they leave behind and this stuff is not fun to clean off. A fly swatter would often be at our side while enjoying time on the patio, but now there is a new sherif in town, and they are armed!First things first, I read the reddit forums and found a healthy discussion on what type of salt to use. I selected to use Kosher Course, so I could get a bit more range with the heavier grain of salt. So far so good on this choice. This ensures a deadly strike from about the 3 ft distance. We've had success a bit further out, around the 5ft range, but not consistent. And we've had salt to wall penetration in the close quarter 1 ft range. So, there is definitely a sweet spot.I probably had a 75% success rate with a fly swatter. I would say that my fire-to-kill ratio has gone up in the 90% range with the bug-a-salt. Which is amazing!BE Prepared. There is salt to clean up. There is also an abundance of fly carcasses to clean up now. ALSO, this has a tendency to splatter fly parts onto your wall. So if you're shooting against white vinyl or glass, you'll have a bloody show. When we shoot at our pavers and we are too close, the salt is impaled into the grooves of the pavers. It all sweeps, vacuums, blows off... and in the worst-case scenario a little water will dissolve it.For us, this is an outdoor/patio use only. But this has increased our enjoyment of our patio, not only in the reduction of flies, but has added an activity that everyone is having a blast! We are VERY VERY happy with the bug-a-salt.

Fun and effective
I'm surprised to say that this actually works. My hopes were not high but this product delivered. We do try to use it outside or in unfinished areas of our house because it does make a mess, but then again so does a fly swatter. We have gotten a surprising amount of enjoyment out of this little tool. It works well and we haven't had any issues with durability yet. As long as we have plenty of salt we will be good to go!Overall, highly pleased!

Great fun method of pest control
This is my second Bug-A-Salt – the first was the Lawn and Garden variety, and my biggest gripe was the safety – it really bugged me (pun intended) that I had to not only rack the slide but also click the safety on follow-up shots. I’m a grown adult and can handle real firearms without safeties, so I’ll (probably) not unload a blast of salt into my eyes. I went as far as to drive a screw into the body of the gun to make it so the safety mechanism was held into the “fire” position (probably making it illegal in California). This one eliminates the pesky safety, making it much easier to take follow-up shoots if needed to win over your pests heart and mind. I’m using the new one in the house, the lawn and garden one is being used in the garage/workshop. It’s the most fun you can have assassinating pests!
