Excellent quality and arrived on time. 5 and 7 year old are fascinated. Remember is does not come with ants so you have to order them separately. We ordered and they arrived a day before we gifted the ant farm and so we refrigerated them until we put them in and several are still alive at 2 weeks. Remember the ants can be quick and do bite so you want to refrigerate before you put in so that you slow them down to make loading easier.

My son was super excited to get it set up and after putting the ants in the fridge for 10 minutes it was super easy to transport them in the opening at the top. He likes that it is see through on all sides so he can watch all the activity.

The media could not be loaded. I love love love this ant farm! My 2 year old is currently obsessed with bugs and I was looking for an ant farm for a reasonable price. I got this on sale for $15. It comes with a code you scan with your phone to purchase the ants for only $5. Shipping took longer than I expected for the live ants and a few came dead, but my colony has been thriving since and my son loves watching them. It comes with a booklet on how to care for them and how to put it together. The instructions are clear and easy. It suggested I add seeds and small pebbles for the ants to work with, so I added some bird seed I had— and the seeds are growing! It’s pretty small, but it’s thick enough that the ants can build 2 separate sets of tunnels, using both sides of the farm.The actual assembly of the ant farm could’ve been built better. My ants built so close to the top where the lid is and some like to hang out at the top. It’s hard to open to give them food without them trying to rush out. If you look at my photos/ video you’ll see how close they are to the lid, which slides to open and I just feel like this setup isn’t going to last long.Overall, this is a great buy for your kids and they’d have a blast with it. I loveee my ants, and so does my 2 year old! I just hope it lasts long and the ants are happy.

The ant house itself is good, featuring a lid for easy feeding. However, you need to purchase ants separately, and in our experience, they didn't live long – only about 2-3 months. While this was disappointing, it was still fun to observe their daily activities.

The ant farm itself is good quality but I can’t speak to how well the ants dig or live because after three weeks we are still waiting to see if we can get a batch of ants that will live. It took two weeks to receive the first order of ants and all of them died within the first 24 hours. I emailed with the problem and got a response that only informed me of issues regarding shipping timing and temperatures; not what I’d emailed about. I replied again asking for a new set of ants and have yet to receive a response. Hopefully the company will stand by their quality guarantee and send us a new batch of ants that will live so my daughter can watch them dig tunnels.

The kit doesn't come with ants and the ants are harder to obtain than they let on, which was misleading. The product itself is useless without the ants. So if you'd like a small box with sand and stickers, you might enjoy this. Otherwise, save your money and go to the local pet store.This was not worth the money or hassel.

My son received this for his birthday and today (2 weeks later) we got the ants in the mail. So much fun for him to set up and we can't wait for the ants to get busy making tunnels. Such an easy insect pet and so fun for kids.
