Extremely thin lead.
Extremely thin lead. Snaps off anytime you try to write anything. I had to go back to . 5 lead pencils. Might be good for some very light shading possibly?!

For small type and tight fine lines, these pencils are great.
I was a little skeptical about this item being able to print or sketch with 0.3mm HB lead, but with just a short trial I found I had very little trouble breaking the leads. What I found is that if you retract the lead back to the end of the extended tube and then pop the button on the other end, the pencil projects the lead enough for normal writing or sketching. If you pop the lead out without putting a finger to it to move the lead back to the edge of the tube it does break. And, of course, if you are ham handed, well, forget it. The steel tube that actually holds the lead as you write is retractable, which is not the case with all makes of mechanical pencils.
