Q: I do not have the old sails to measure. Can anyone tell me the spindle size that the 17 inch sails would fit? Thank you.

Hi, I would say under 3mm in diameter and you’ll need approx 30mm sticking out of the concrete plus allow some length for setting the spindle in to the concrete of course.

Q: How is the bead positioned? Is it on the front of the hub or behind the hub?

Hi, its intended to go at the front, on the spindle’s end as a retaining ball. But all stone windmill manufacturers use their own designs so it may be excess to requirements. Rgds, Phill.

Hello, might be best to use the colour of the centre boss as your guide. If it was ‘red’ and the whole assembly was about 30cm then order ref LARGE. If it had a ‘white’ hub and the diameter was more like 42cm/17” then order the set Ref GIANT. Hope this helps.
