🎶 Elevate Your Sound Game!
The CAD Audio C98 is a cardioid condenser gooseneck microphone, specifically designed for the capture and reinforcement of drum set and other acoustic percussive instruments. The cardioid polar pattern provides off-axis rejection crucial for on-stage clarity. The streamlined gooseneck design and included drum rim mount provide maximum flexibility for mounting in tight spaces and eliminates the need for mic stands. Low noise and high SPL provide clean and clear sound reproduction.

Sound quality vs. value is 100% worth it.
This is my first step into the gooseneck mic world, and I'm loving this CAD microphone! I bought the CAD KBM412 for a gong drum a couple of years ago, and I am still so surprised by the quality vs. the value/price that I paid. That mic has low-end for days! So I really had no fear about buying this microphone based on past satisfaction. And let me tell you, they've done it again.Like any drummer, it's impossible not to notice the rise in popularity of goosneck mics, like the Earthworks DM20, over the years. They have been more than a little out of my price range though. I didn't know that CAD made a mic like this, but when I saw it, I had to try it out. I haven't had any trouble with the goosneck loosing shape or the mic clip not holding on to the rim or the XLR connection. Totally satisfied. The response and sound you get out of a pencil-eraser sized mic is just mind-boggling to me, but I guess that's why these have grown in popularity so much. There is minimal cymbal bleed or noise from the close proximity e-pads. I'm such a happy camper, can't wait to deck out the rest of my toms on these. The pictures are of a 14" floor tom. I couldn't find any info written in their directions, but almost ALL condenser microphones require phantom power - take that into account when comparing mics.

I was surprised, Studio comparison.
I own a Studio, with a designated (sound treated) drum room. These are really great mics for clarity on rack toms and high note floor toms. I did not find they picked up all the lower notes of the floor toms, and I will be using a larger diaphragm mic on those. My session drummer commented on how "out of the way, and out of sight" they are. To me a happy drummer AND great sound is a WIN, and worth the 5 stars. Just don't expect the low end sensitivity of other mics.

Good for toms. Bad for snares.
I like the size of this. I ordered it because I don't have a lot of space to fit a regular mix on my snare. It just did not pick up the highs or the snare sounds themselves. It was a very empty sound. Hollowish. Then I put it on a tom and it works pretty good. I ended up deciding to put it on for my snare bottom mic. It's OK in that position. Not great. I will keep it because it's fairly cheap anyway. But you get what you pay for. I've had other CAD mics that were good. This one just isn't.

Very clear but very sensitive
As any phantom powers SDC, these are very clear but incredibly sensitive.

Shocking in a good way
Ok so I ordered 6 of these.... 3 were non-functional right out of the box.I'm going to try 2 more.... cause I'm stupid... but I really really hope the pair at least one works.... if so... I'll update my review to reflect.Ok found the issue, it was not the Mic'sAll of them work! And work well I am correcting my review...very good products I'm glad I have them....so worth the cost.

Perfect fit to my "repique de mão"
After a long search for a microphone to to fit my Brazilian-style hand drums, this was the best fit for it. I will update this review for the sound quality after performing with it. So far, so good.

poor working condition
I bought these for 2 rack toms. Both mics worked good for a few weeks. Now they don't work correctly. static comes through every time the toms are hit. I used different channels on my mixer, and still the same thing. I wouldn't recommend buying..

Gooseneck needs to be redesign
Extremely musical microphone. But the gooseneck refuses to stay in place. A little street engineering and you can manage to keep it in place. Thin strip of gaff and you are good to go. Again the sound it’s just impressive.
