Could someone tell me the diameter of the tip ? Thanks !

The tip runs from 3/8” diameter at the base to a little under ¼” at the tip over about 1 5/16” length. The hole at the tip is a little over 1/8”. I bought these to keep in a wilderness trauma kit for wound debridement. The hole is too big to get a good sustained high-pressure stream from. Each syringe has a nice cap that fits on tightly. I used a hot needle to put a .015” hole in the end of the cap. This allows me to quickly fill the syringe through the large tip hole and them put the cap on and output a narrow sustained high-pressure stream to clean a wound… perfect for my needs.

Question 2

If I need 5mm of a liquid, do I subtract an amount for what is contained in the needle, or is the scale calibrated to include what is contained in it?

I put the question to my vet since I’ve wondered the same thing for years.  Her answer was specific to a one [1] ML syringe, which is what we’ve used historically for dispensing pet meds.  It’s important you know that up front before reading the below.

She said, “Different syringes have different amounts of dead space at the tip, but they are all calibrated correctly to account for that”.
With that said, I believe the answer lies in the plunger.  Some syringes have a plunger that is contoured to slide into the tip of the syringe and it releases the contents in the area she refers to as ‘dead space’.  These plungers are molded from a single piece of plastic (i.e. no rubber tip).  On others, the tip of the plunger is rubber and flat/slightly rounded but they do NOT release the contents of the tip.  From what she stated, the quantity markers on the syringe have been adjusted accordingly.

With regard to these specific syringes, the tip on the plunger is rubber and flat so the contents of the tip are NOT released when dispensed.  I am inclined to assume the same standard is applied by all manufacturers and I (personally) would trust the markers on the body of the syringe.  However, if you’re not comfortable assuming all syringes follow the same standard, you may want to contact the seller to see if they can provide an answer specific to this product.

Question 3

Are these suitable for applying epoxy to small areas?

It’s just my opinion but I would say the opening is too big for applying to a small area. I don’t know if it helps but I can pass a wooden skewer through the body of the syringe and about 5/8” comes through the tip.  That might give you a n idea of the diameter of the opening.
