I use the defenders for switching on 240v low wattage lights as a deterrent to burglars when not at home, but the the product details state it is suitable for: Voltage: 100 - 240v Max Wattage: 3120W This would include a single washing machine or tumble drier per Defender. Essentially most domestic appliances would be acceptable, but not an electric cooker or shower which use a Wattage greater than the Defender maximum.

No, but it has many different programme choices so you could just set it to come on and go off for an hour at a specific time on specific days
