Still as good as ever and excellent value for money.
The last time I used a Hama card reader was back in 2011 before I built a new computer and installed a 3.5" permanent multi-card reader to replace the Hama for my Compact Flash and SD cards which were the media for my cameras.Over time I have replaced three of the installed readers on the earlier and my very recent computer new build due to the pins being too close to the slot entrance on the Compact Flash reader part which allows the card to enter at a slight angle even after taking great care which resulted in the pins getting bent so a couple of days ago after yet another bent pin issue I ordered a good old Hama reader which is identical to the one I used all those years ago and it was like going back in time but to a much happier time. There was no worry about bending the pins like on the built in card reader as the CF card simply slotted into the Hama just in the same manner as it does in my cameras and it's worth noting that those have never ever had bent pins and it worked the instant I plugged it into the USB port. The computer running Windows 10 recognised it immediately with no issues whatsoever and after loading Photoshop I was editing the files within seconds.I have to say that having tried other portable card readers in the past, the Hama reader was the reader of choice for me personally until I installed a permanent reader into the computer, so the other day whilst looking for a portable reader, when I found that Hama readers were still available it was a no-brainer not to get another. They are absolutely brilliant and the eerie things is that they are still about the same price as they were 10 years ago.In the feedback I noticed someone had claimed that they had followed the instructions and it had wiped their files. Well what instructions does one need?Simply plug it in with the USB lead (supplied with the reader), put the card in that you want it to read and then look for the files in the OS file explorer.I've downloaded tens of thousands of images in the past with the good old Hama card reader and never once lost a file and many of the files were of weddings so I'd treat that claim with caution as it's more likely to be user-error.The bottom line is that I'm more than happy with the Hama card reader. It's a brand I knew and trusted in the past and the reason why I chose to buy it again.

Good card reader, good price.
Just bought this to replace a Jessops multi-card reader because one of the slots I use regularly suddenly gave up the ghost. Extravagantly expensive at 7 quid compared to the £3.99 some reviewers have mentioned (and the quoted RRP price of £83.20 must be a joke, or a typo) but I can't grumble - it's less than half the price of my old one, seems equally sturdy and on a quick test run it read all the card sizes I have without any problem. Cards slot in nicely without wobbling. The leaflet warns you to hold the casing by the sides, rather than top and bottom, when inserting and removing cards, to prevent it flexing and damaging the contacts, but in fact the plastic housing seems pretty rigid and not at all flimsy. Time will tell if the contacts are fragile (they probably are on all readers, given the size of the pins) but this seems a perfectly good card reader to me, and good value.

Reliable, budget card reader
This product is a reliable, cheap card reader that works like a charm. It's not as good looking as some of the other card readers out there, and the plastic case looks a little flimsy, but it's a well-tested design that works really well. In particular, the CF compartment is very deep compared to some of the other card readers out there. This means you can't easily mis-align the card during insertion and damage the pins (if you read reviews of other card readers then that's something that seems to happen with alarming regularity). My only gripe (and the reason it has 4 and not 5 stars) is that it doesn't support USB 3.0. As such it's a little on the slow side but that's a small price to pay for something that won't trash expensive CF cards!!!It would be perfect if it were USB 3.0 (hence the four stars). Other than that it's great.

Simple, easy to use and reliable
I've had this card reader for some time and I couldn't operate without it.It's surprising how many times I need to download the contents of a memory card to one PC, laptop or other device. It's also surprising how often the device in question either doesn't have a card reader or doesn't have a slot for the type of card you're using. This nifty little device solves all those issues. With such a variety of cards that it can read, I never struggle to grab the digital content I need. With it's small size and light weight, I can carry it everywhere (especially on business). Because it cost so little, it's the type of item that, if I lost or broke it, I'd buy another one immediately. And when you think that about a product, you know that it's a good one!Recommended.
