Excellent - easy to follow!
I've always been a healthy eater, but have several health issues, which are not yet resolved - so losing weight is very difficult. Even so, I followed this detox, eliminating the allergens, and I felt really good and lost 2 kilos in the process. It is very easy to follow, because you don't feel hungry. The problem I found was finding time to make juices and smoothies, but you can find them in the shops as long as you choose them without additives and sugar. The whole book is very informative and easy to read. Because I wanted to start right away, I jumped straight to the foods allowed and those to be avoided, but then during the week I read through the rest. Also, although I stuck strictly to the foods to be avoided, I made up my own eating plan, which is allowed. I didn't follow the suggestion of taking Glutamine, but now I'm going to, because I seem to suffer from a leaky gut (conclusion as a result of blood tests), and the glutamine should help with that. This detox is worth doing for the "feel good factor" alone!

This works!
easy to follow detox, mainly vegan with a bit of fish but it works, I feel amazing and unticked 25 of the 27 boxes I ticked before starting, I cannot believe it..I feel normal and happy! I recommend it even if you dont have real liver problems because we all drink and overload our livers with pills and chemicals. I have been organic all my life so it helps, no chemicals go through my liver. But this has changed my life and my family are now following the book.

Toughest thing I've ever done!
The book is informative and gives a detailed meal plan so it's easy to follow. However, I am a serious carnivore so I found having no meat very tough. If that isn't bad enough, there is no wheat, dairy, sugar, alcohol or caffeine. Nobody said it would be easy - it is a detox after all. I didn't feel too hungry and my bloating disappeared but I found some of the food less than tasty (probably my unhealthy palate) and the diet cost me a fortune in stocking up on foods that I wouldn't normally have in my kitchen as well as the supplements. I don't know what effect it had on my liver as I didn't have any pre and post testing done but it did increase my energy levels and my mood improved.

This diet is excellent if you can stick to it!
Initially there is quite a lot of outlay for this diet but you do use the ingredients up. I am on my third day of this diet and feel so much better already and lost 3lb so far also. It is up to you whether you use all the supplements or not but I would have thought it is more healthy to follow the guidelines. The glutamine is expensive to buy £ 36.00 but on offer at Holland and Barrett, buy one get one for a penny. The recipes are great and have made two different soups so far and a couple of smoothies, will be trying the stew tomorrow. I agree with the previous review about the muesli being not that great. I am not particularly fond of basil so instead of mixing the super green mix into my food I have it stirred up in a glass of mineral water and down it as quick as possible. Just follow the 6 a day must haves and add to it as you desire with the other allowed food or follow the laid out diet in the book. Would highly recommend this book.

The 9 day liver detox
Well where do I start here? This book is written by an expert in the field of nutrition called patrick holford, and although some of his pevious books are good, this one seems to say some similar things. Beware though,of the advice to buy some of the supplements listed as part of the liver detox diet, I have done my research into this and they are very expensive, and in any case the body has its very own specific way of dealing with toxins without the need to detox. One could simply and affordably eat plenty of the foods that he recommends in his book at a much lower price in your local supermarket or greengrocer's shop. Use at your peril!

I felt great after two days and lost pounds
After just a few days on this diet I was revitalised and my head had cleared of the fog I hadn't even been aware of. Fantastic book and life changing.

this has been so easy to follow- I have loved all the recipes
i have been told by my doctor that I have a slightly fatty liver, and so in advance of seeing a specialist I suggested I try a detox- she agreed. I have to say, this has been so easy to follow- I have loved all the recipes, especially a couple of the breakfast ones, all the soups and salads, and I don't feel I'm missing out at all. I am 7 days in, have lost 4lbs, I feel great, awake, hydrated, energetic clear-minded. I have also read that liver issued are related to a low functioning thyroid, so am hoping that this approach may reverse mine. There are switches the author suggests that I will take on board going forwards permanently and not just formthendetox- rice milk in my redbush tea, pumpernickel or rye bread (toasted with cashew nut butter, it's a real treat), coconut or soya yoghurt, pouring ground seeds on everything, and supergreens (made from fresh green leaves). it's been a relevation for me and I usually find diets really hard to stick to. I have learned so much from the book, and I wouldmregard myself as prettynwell read on health and nutrition generally. All in all a really great buy Nd i hopemlife changing for me.

Practicalities
It's a good book, well written but I found it quite daunting to see me applyng it all to my life. I tried some of the recipes that sounded tasty rather than go buy everything. I think as long as you allow 9 clear days to do the diet and lifestyle allows it would be great but I work on an energy level and feeling yuk from detoxing would be difficult to work so I need to find a window when I'm not working. That being said I am doing the hot water & lemon in the mornings, filtering my water, taking milk thistle & trying to avoid bread etc so I am doing some of it regularly.
