I very much doubt it will compost ,perhaps contact the manufacturer .

Yes you can use this resin with any RO unit. You will need a separate canister to put it in, and it will go last in the sequence before the water exits to your container.

Q: How much water will this filter and how do you tell when it is spent?

This resin does not change colour as an indicator to exhaustion. Invest in a TDS meter to check your purified water before using in your aquarium.

Q: Can this be used for frash water????

Yes it can be used on fresh water but only as part of a reverse osmosis filter.This media is not for filtering tank water it is for filtering impurities from tap water that is used to fill, top up or carryout water changes on your tank.
