Q: The melita 1012/04 is much more expensive than the melita 1011/16 or the melita looktherm 6679569. does anyone have any comments?

Not sure, but some are they exact model but come with a different thermal matal jug and some with glass jugs.

Q: Do you ever have problems with the water leaking from the plastic container when setting up the maker in the evening for morning brew?

No. You MUST locate the reservoir on the vertical slide before lowering it onto the valve. Hold the reservoir 2 or 3 cm. above the top of the machine. Push it firmly against the slide. As you lower it, it will be locked into place before it reaches the valve.

Q: Does this have a timer? to program it to turn on in the morning etc. description seems to say yes but i don't see a clock or lcd screen

No, there is no clock. The only timer is on the hotplate; you can adjust how long it stays on to keep the coffee hot, up to 90 mins.
