Q: Can you use it for hot food？

I would not fill the glass more than 2/3 full if using in microwave. It can be used to hold hot food and liquids :)

Q: 4 cup scale is not accurate. look at the pictures, the 4 cup mark lines up well above 320z line, even with 1000cc line. 946 cc=4cups.what gives?

Do not measure anything with this cup. Great for other purposes but not carefully marked for measuring cups or ounces.

Q: Is the consensus to not wash in the dishwasher if you don't want the markings to fade? do abrasive sponges need to be avoided also?

I might consider this a good sign that the lettering comes off because it might not contain any lead then. (??) The reason Pyrex's measuring cup markings never come off is because they add lead to the material used for the lettering. The lead helps color adhere. Years ago road lines contained lead, and lasted much longer, until it was finally banned. I'd like to hear from the seller about what materials, and if any metals, are used in the markings. But if the markings come off, are they etched into the glass so you can still see the measurements?

I like the ease of using the measuring cup with the handle. The 32 oz line should coincide with the 4 cup line but it doesn’t. The 4 cup line is off by 2 tablespoons and the 32 oz is off by 1/4 cup. My question is: are all the measuring cups marked the same or do I have a “bad” batch?
