Really sharp current gen lens
I wanted a macro lens for my a7cr, and was initially going to get the sony 90mm macro, but it has a few issues: 1. It's selling for msrp even though its a 2015 design, 2. It only does 1:1 macro. I ended up finding the Laowa 100mm, but that was designed for DSLRs and bigger than it needs to be for mirrorless. Turns out in 2023, they released a 90mm that has 2:1 magnification and designed for mirrorless. Great lens, but it takes a lot of effort to get a clear photo without image blur because of how small the scales are when photographing. I found I could increase likelihood of taking a good photo by increasing light (beyond regular sunlight) with an external flash, and practicing my manual focus skills. All sample photos were hand held. I ended up buying the NEEWER Z1-S flash for my A7CR.

Great macro lens, but needs electrical contacts
(edit) increased rating. The sharpeness at high magnification this is amazingThe macro pictures this creates are very high quality.BUT the lens has neither electrical contacts nor weather sealing. Venus Optical needs to add these to their lenses going forward. Not having EXIF nor focal length info makes quality of life when shooting and editing harder. You have to manually add metadata in your workflow and configure your in body stabilization manually to know about the lens focal length.

Price Gouging
This is a great lens but CFlyElectStore is over-charging by 20%. This is blatant price gouging.
