Q: Is it infinitely adjustable, or does it adjust in increments? Is it easy to move, if I don't want to step over it?

You can adjust the gate but you put the screws in and you would have to remove them to adjust it!! It is so easy to move!! It's a beautiful gate!! We loved it!!

Q: Is there an extension to add approximately 4 feet to the gate?

I have one and mine goes at least 5 feet. The item description says 71.3 inches which is just over 5.9 feet
