It definitely works!
Our landlord cut back a bunch of trees and brush, so the building suddenly has a mouse problem. Despite having three cats who are incredibly interested in helping, we have had several in the kitchen and there’s one that periodically checks out my closet and leaves poops. Thanks, bro. 😅This is an update after using this trap for a few weeks. Now, my housemates haven’t released the kitchen mice very far away, despite my telling them otherwise, so there’s a chance that we may have some repeat offenders. In any case, this little trap is just the thing! The mice aren’t afraid of it and go right in. The removable door for peanut butter/bait is genius and the unit is pretty easy to clean.Once inside, they can’t get out — one mouse got trapped even though the entry was still up, so we thought the trap was untriggered. Poor guy spent a bit longer than usual in there before we realized, but he was definitely good and caught.I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I’m super pleased with this product! It’s inexpensive, reusable, and it allows mice the chance to go live their best lives — not inside our home. 😁My original review:There has been a mouse in the kitchen for the past week or so, running alongside the back of the kitchen counters. I’m a wildlife biologist and against cruelty/suffering of any kind, so my preferred option is catch-and-release.I did try catching the mouse with a homemade bucket trap, but no luck. This live catch trap seemed perfect for what we needed — the perfect size to fit easily on the counter right where the mouse was running.Night one, the mouse seemed to have eaten the bait without being caught. Night two, SUCCESS!The mouse was caught, removed, and released away from our house. I’m very pleased at the performance of this trap! It’s a convenient size that can be put pretty much anywhere and it works!

Don’t waste your money on cheap plastic
In theory and functionality this trap works great. In fact, it caught all 6 mice living in our quail coop the 1st night. However, the cheap plastic that it’s made out of, coupled with the stupid ventilation holes along the bottom front, gave them an easy beginning point to start chewing through, and in no time at all were able to chew a hole big enough that as soon as I picked up the trapped, they all zipped back out before I could even pull it out the whole 8 inches that it was sitting in there. So, for a few dollars more, I just purchased an almost identical trap that’s made of metal, so will actually keep the mice in this time. Well hopefully, I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed they aren’t smart enough to know exactly what it is now, so won’t fall for it again… This is so infuriating and disappointing. I’ve been trying to get these nasty little rodents out of my bird’s home for a week now. They’re all up in their food and water, they scamper around all night long and keep them awake. Ugh. And I literally had them all, but because of these poor design flaws, they’re right back to snuggling up in their hidey holes as we speak. Ridiculous.

Extremely Effective, This really is a better mouse trap!
This Tomcat Live Catch Mouse Trap trapped several mice. It seems the mice cannot resist it. After having many trees cut down in my yard and the stumps ground down, I was overrun by mice in my house. I hate mice with a passion. Every night when the sun went down, a mouse would get trapped inside. I would take the trap to the park across the street and empty it, hoping the mouse would not find it's way back. Every hour I would catch another mouse. Sometimes it is hard to empty the trap because the mice are afraid to leave or they wanted to continue eating the peanut butter. I had put this trap in the bathroom where I had seen the first mouse. Mice leave a trail of urine and feces wherever they go, which seems to draw more mice along that same trail. I did not wash my bathroom floor until I stopped catching mice. The trap is still in my bathroom and I have not caught a mouse for over a year. One hint: if you have a postage scale, weigh the trap empty. Then, if the sensitive door on the trap becomes closed, weigh it again. That will tell you whether there is a mouse inside. Mice may be very light and do not always move very much. You don't want to open the trap inside and give the mouse the ability to escape.I used JIF crunchy peanut butter in the trap, mice seem to like it as much as I do! If that is not available, Kroger crunchy peanut butter works well. Maybe any peanut butter or nuts work well, use what you like. When the single live catch and release became too much trouble, I bought a Flip N Slide Bucket Lid Mouse Trap. It can be used as a live trap or lethal when filled with water. It can catch many mice in a very short period of time. Again I used chunky peanut butter but I added some sunflower seeds to the peanut butter. I put this in the basement as I thought that is where the mice may be getting in. It filled up quickly with mice. I was completely disgusted and happy at the same time.As the weather gets colder again, I will make sure my traps (and myself) have fresh peanut butter. I will also buy another Flip N Slide Bucket Lid Mouse Trap for my detached garage. I don't want mice taking shelter in my car and destroying the upholstery and wiring. The Tomcat Live Catch Mouse Trap is the best mouse trap I have ever had for use in a living area. The Flip N Slide Bucket Lid Mouse Trap is the best for basements, garages, and sheds.Mice don't need to destroy your quality of life!
