Q: Would this plug work on my portable air conditioner?

Yes the GFCI plug will work for portable air conditioners. However, as required by NEC and ANSI, air conditioners should be protected by a LCDI or AFCI plug, but in practice most air conditioners are protected by LCDI plugs. Different from GFCI, the LCDI stands for 'Leakage Current Detection and Interruption' and provides device protection by sensing damage to the power cord to reduce the risk of fire associated with arcing faults, which may happen to air conditioners. It's advertised as a replacement and OE for that make but it doesn't list models. It meets the amp requirements but what about the voltage? Don't get something to far out of spec. As long as you get it as close as possible (over not under) to your volt and amp needs you should be covered. I was slightly out of spec as well (a small difference much like yours) and I grabbed a small extension that was in line with original specs to be safe.
