Q: This automatically turns off when it has already reached the humidity of 45%. Can I change the setting to shut off when it hits 60% humidity?

It appears the unit only shuts off when the unit runs out of water or you lift the tank off of the base. This is from the Manual: Auto Button Touch the AUTO button to turn on automatic mode, which automatically monitors and reports the air humidity in the room. The mist level will automatically adjust from Level I, ll, or Ill as needed to maintain the ideal air humidity according to the ambient humidity listed below. * When the room air humidity level is 0-45%: fan operates on Level III and night light is red. * When the room air humidity level is 45-65%: fan operates on Level II and night light is blue. * When the room air humidity level is over 65%: fan operates on Level I and night light is orange. * Press any button to turn off auto mode. When the water level is low or the tank is removed the unit will stop producing mist and the indicator light will change from white to red.

Q: For seller, can essential oils be added to water directly instead of using the pads? If this outputs 300ml of mist an hr will oils be too smelly?

Please utilize the pads that came with the Pure Enrichment® HUME™ Sense Top Fill Humidifier. Oils added to the tank will damage the tank.

Q: can you use water from tap or distilled water?

You can use either, but if using tap water you must clean the machine more frequently. It uses quite a lot of water so purchasing gallons of distilled water is not easy.
