Best brand and opener!
Got this today and just had to try it out. I cleaned it, dried it and I opened up a can of Olives for a snack. It's so nice to have an Electric can opener again, been many years without one and my hands are not as strong as they used to be. It's so nice to load it in the opener, push it down and walk away. I came back and it was still on the opener sitting there waiting for me. Ha! It cut nice (as a normal opener can) the magnet is nice and strong and it was easy to clean. Of course I unplugged it before cleaning it. Nice cord that goes back into the back of the machine and I just love this brand! Best buy so far this year... Nicely boxed up and Quick Shipping! Definitely worth the money which wasn't a bad price at all for this brand! I also registered it with the company online and they sent me an email with tons of recipes which was way cool...

One Of The Best
Uncomplicated, efficient, and takes up little counter space. I've only used it with round cans of various sizes, so how it performs with other shapes Is a question I can't answer. Once engaged, it quickly severs the top and shuts off at it's starting point. The magnetic lid retainer keeps the lid from disappearing into the contents, and the guide and cutter seldom shred the paper label which is an annoying feature of lesser openers. The handle assembly detaches easily for cleaning the cutter blade when necessary. One caution. For really large, heavy cans, it is advisable to gently support the can at it's bottom to prevent the opener and the can from upsetting and spilling the contents. This is an issue with all openers of this type, so it's not a design flaw, it's just "the nature of the beast" as they say.

So Far... so good?
Seems good so far but I'm skeptical because I haven't had this device for long. I have found that all electric can openers have sucked after a while. I use them frequently for canned tomatoes for pasta sauce, and other people type foods but also for feeding my dogs their canned pet food. The evaluation of this product is to be determined.

Can Drops after opening! Covered in Tomoto sauce!!
I bought this item in September as a birthday present for my mother. It has very good reviews on Amazon, and I thought that Cuisinart was known for making good products. However, it's a very chintzy can opener that my mother just can't use. Cans will always fall after opening. More than once, my mother has been covered in tomato sauce, or chicken broth etc. The manual states " the can will remain in position until the lever is lifted" ABSOLUTELY FALSE!I would return the can opener, but I bought it back in September and it's probably too late now and I don't have the original box etc. It's not that using an electric can opener is rocket science, but I figured maybe we just aren't using the can opener correctly, so I called Cuisinart. I told them about the cans falling. Also, sometimes it jams and stops on its own. They made arrangements to send me another one, which was odd because I didn't have to show any proof that I actually bought it, they just asked for address, e-mail etc. Which tells me maybe a lot of people call in complaining about this, and my complaint seemed legit. The replacement can opener, I guess, is in the process of being shipped. We have not received any e-mail confirmation as such. At this point, I think I might just donate the new can opener, if it arrives. I'm guessing it's a design flaw, and not just a faulty item. I've seen at least one other comment here, with the complaint about the cans falling. But I'm surprised I haven't seen many.I guess I will have to go with the cheapest Walmart Chinese electric can opener you can buy.(((((UPDATE))))): It is now 17 days after I called Cuisinart Customer Service. I was told they would send me a replacement can opener in about 14 days. We have NOT received any confirmation email (or replacement can opener in mail), so I will once again call customer service tomorrow. I really hope I was not lied to. I recorded first conversation, so I have all the details.

A great electric can opener
I bought this for my kids home and it's perfect. Because it is tall and skinny it save space on their counters! It is a quality small appliance! Great price too!
