Opies Pickled Walnuts - 390g - 4 Pack

We had pickled walnuts at Christmas when I was growing up in England. We couldn't afford them the rest of the year. Now I can but them whenever I want, and I do. I love them. Great with sandwiches, cheese and crackers, and any savory dinner. Try them! They're great!

I tried these for the first time on a whim. For anyone who has not tried these, they're like sweet vinegar soaked sponges with a very soft walnut inside. My first try I wasn't sure if I liked them. The vinegar is sweet and extremely flavorful but it was too much. The second one I squeezed out half the vinegar in a paper towel. Perfect. A day later and I was looking at 4 empty jars. Will definitely order again. Also, even though I didn't do it, I would suggest using the vinegar on a salad as it reminds me of a sweet balsamic.

BOUGHT THESE AFTER SEEING THEM IN A MOVIE ON TCM. THEY ARE QUITE THE ITEM IN GREAT BRITAIN AND IRELAND TO HAVE SLICED, ON A CRACKER WITH A PIECE OF CHEESE. I GUESS THEY ARE EATEN OFTEN IN PUBS AND AT TEA TIME. I THOUGHT THE VINEGAR PICKLING WOULD MAKE THEM FIRM, BUT THEY ARE A LITTLE MUSHY AND I FOUND THEM A LITTLE TOO TART, TOO MUCH BALSAMIC. THEY ARE INTERESTING AND YOU WILL FIND PEOPLE STARRING WHEN YOU SERVE THEM, "WHAT ARE THOSE BLACK THINGS?"

The flavor was okay. The walnuts were very big, so there were few in the bottle. The texture was a little soft. I wanted pickled walnuts, and these were good enough.

The most unpleasant rancid flavor and weird semi-decayed texture... i love pickled walnuts with cheese but these are not edible not with cheese, not with anything else. Save your money.
