Q: How big is the pill? Can it be cut? My vet recommended for dog, but need to cut in half.

The pill is relatively small and chewable so it shouldn't have to be cut in half, I would think. Maybe your vet is referring to the regular adult pill.

Q: Use to take these all the time 10 years ago then they vanished,did that ever make sence?

Maybe because some old compound that was harmful..

Q: How quickly does this work to calm a coughing fit?

This isn't specifically a cough medicine so my understanding is that it won't stop a coughing fit immediately. If the coughing is due to allergies it helps with the underlying cause reducing/stopping the need to cough. But it does take time to work. I'm not sure how soon you would notice a difference, I think if would depend on how severe the allergies are. Cough medicine would be best to have on hand while you wait for this to make a difference.
