Amazingly thin. My only complaint is that the back rows aren't magnetic so there's no convenient place to store pieces to resume a game later other than placing the taken pieces upside down.Even still, being able to stash this away and have it take up virtually no space or weight is a definite plus.

Me and my lil one love to play chess so decide me that we needed something that traveled so when we’re out and about. Travel-ability and quality are really good. Definitely worth the money since they’re small in size and store just about anywhere. Not really a design failure but word to the wise, keep and eye on the pieces because they can easily get lost 😂

I’ve bought two. It’s about the size of a check book. I keep it in my purse and my husband and I play at parks, restaurants, etc. Very fun!

wish I would have had this earlier in my life. Better than any "portable" chess set I have ever owned.

Expectation: Perfect for on the go whether traveling to work, school, or just traveling to place to place on vacation. It is small and compact so easy to store and the magnetic chess pieces are pretty strong definitely a plus however since mine was damaged probably from the shipping when it was delivered to my address hopefully if you are reading mine I highly recommend it plus if yours is also damage from the shipping you can talk or chat with Chess Armory representatives get a replacement board they do stand by their products 100% hopefully yours doesn't get damage when you received it.

While this is a basic inexpensive plastic set and not designed to bang around with or even take to the top of Mt. Everest... it could get to base camp, and may make it back down in one piece too. Assuming someone doesn't sit on or drop it. The design is pleasing and the price is perfect. It works for what it's intended to do.

We loved that now the computer can’t cheat and we can play together nearly anywhere…but we are still going to have to sort out a few practicalities. No worries though, people have been sorting these same practicalities for literally hundreds if not a thousand years or so at this point. The magnetic pieces are compact and do stay on their squares well even when the board is folded, but…if we play as usual and remove the piece when captured that presents a small problem when camping or traveling. The magnets aren’t quite strong enough to flip and affix to the board without their value showing, we had minor success stacking but only two high. Still, lovely for trains and buses, camping and the like. I most likely won’t attempt to bring it in an aerospace location because I like it too much and don’t want to risk it being confiscated due to having magnets. Great value for the low cost.

My 9 year old nephew learned how to play chess and wanted a travel set so I gave him this on a camping trip. He thought it was the coolest thing ever. It IS a nice lite travel set. If you want cool uncle points with your nerd nephews, buy them this set.
