I have been using this spreader for over one year. It is perfect! I wish I made a move earlier to ditch my Scotts broadcast spreader.Having a lever that closes the feed is perfect because now I can stop on a dime and start right up. The springs and the trap door does not get stuck on larger granular of fertilizer, like it did on my previous Scott’s.

Update: I eventually used it to spread the fertilizer. It was a very nice experience. I struggled a little bit on the slopes but over all it did a really good job compared to my Scott’s spreader. Since, it fared well in its primary function of spreading the fertilizer, I’m willing to ignore the nut and bolt part and hence took away only one star.I still think the spreader is not worth the money I spent on it though.Old Review: Let's start with the good things. The spreader looks nice with the red hopper. After building it, the spreader looks compact and seems to be able to do a good job (I've not tried with the fertilizer yet, so cannot comment on how well it does in terms of spreading the material). That's all that I can think of the good things.The not so good part is the assembly of the spreader. The video on youtube was very helpful but what's with the nuts and bolts? Some of the nuts and bolts cannot be undone, once they are tightened. As a result, I couldn't tighten one side of the spreader completely.Even though the spreader looks nice, as someone else said earlier, it does not look quality. I don't think it is worth $191+tax. So sad that tariff forced me to quit my dream of buying a good one and settle for this one.

The spreader arrived promptly. The instructions provided were very clear and assembly went very quickly. The spreader did very well spreading the material throughout the yard as advertise. I would recommend also going to Earthway and use their cross reference guide to know how to apply your different materials.

The side control doesn’t prevent fertilizer from spreading out the right side of the spreader like advertised. The Scott’s spreader works way better at preventing or blocking fertilizer from spreading to the right. After assembly the spreader would not open up under the load or weight of the fertilizer and had to be pushed open manually from the bottom which caused a large amount of fertilizer to fall out all over the ground from pushing open the hopper manually. This spreader has so many good reviews, but the Scott’s spreader worked better in my opinion. Maybe I just got a dud and others will have a better experience with this spreader. I would not recommend based on a sample size of one.

Much easier for an old person to pour into, but those tires through thick grass make the job much easier!

After much research and careful consideration, I decided to buy this Earthway spreader after dealing with a big box store spreader for 3 years. I came across many positives and although a bit expensive, I figured it would be worth it.Spreader came unassembled of course but I knew that. Instructions are not the best but there are many YT videos out there detailing the process.After first use, the gearbox somehow disassembled itself. I only found out when fertilizer was dropping straight to the ground and it was not being broadcasted. I was able to snap it back in place and finish the rest of my yard but I’m not sure if it’s a defective gearbox and a bit concerned on how long it’ll last.I’ve reached out to Earthway for support (gearbox replacement?) and will update this review accordingly. I’m hoping this is a one off issue and Earthway makes it right. Otherwise this spreader seems solid and a lot better than my previous one, albeit 5x the cost.

I wanted to like this so badly, but for the money I'm not sure I can recommend it. First of all, the instructions are abysmal. There are YouTube videos out there showing how to assemble it (thankfully), so if you buy one of these, make sure you have WIFI. Why they couldn't just include a simple exploded view of the whole assembly is beyond me. Instead it's a mish-mash of not to scale crayon drawings and terrible overly conversational wording.Once assembled, the only thing I can say is that its' just NOT solid in the broadest translation of that term. It's clear that there was no real value placed on fabrication tolerances. Parts are (not an exaggeration), +/- .5". I don't "think" it's going to fall apart, but load this thing up with 30lbs of fertilizer and you're certainly going to put your faith to the test.As a bonus on mine the armature that actuates the opening/closing the gate wouldn't close all the way out of the box, so fertilizer/grass seed Was constantly getting dumped. Not to worry though as I was able to bend it back into position with two fingers.Really could have been a great product and lived up to the hype with about $8.00 more material and labor. *shrug*

For over twenty five years we had a metal 40 pound spreader we bought from a John Deere dealer. When its spreader shaft rusted out, we bought a Scotts Edge guard. The Edge Guard lasted for four seasons before the plastic drive gear on the drive wheel stripped off. We have used the Earthway 2600 two times and found it can make very large spreader openings if needed. Very few jams with pelletized lime which may contain lime rocks and goo balls. Instructions are OK. Be sure to check that the cotter pin axel holes are in the correct positions before you fasten the wheels on.
