Q: Could you put ice in the top And place the bottom inside it to keep food cold and place the bottom inside it to keep food cold?

I would think so but this is not insulated so the ice would melt quicker. And the lid is not deep so there would probably be a mess.

Q: How much dip does it hold? I make my own using ranch powder and sour cream and make it 16oz at a time.

Yes it holds the 16 oz, with room to spare…I also do the ranch dressing with best foods mayo and 1/2 & 1/2, 2 packages
