Q: how is the light on the camera

Having never used this type of equipment it is hard to say. It was purchased to check under the shed to be sure nothing was living there. The light was OK & playing w/it afterwards, I found you can adjust the brightness (be sure to remove the plastic on the screen too). I had more difficulty maneuvering the rather stiff cable to get an angle, but for the price...?

Q: Is the picture on this camera in color? I am looking to see in my walls to make sure there is not mold. Would this work for that?

Yes, it is a color display and the image detail is pretty good so you should be able to see that once you get the hang of moving and maneuvering the camera head.
