Q: my filters are making worse numbers than the tap and the taste is very poor - am I doing something wrong ?

These filters are intended to be flushed for 10-15mins before use. The initial flushing removes the carbon fines from the filter that cause the taste and numbers issue.

These filters do not include the gasket.

Q: Does each filter last 1 year for a total of 2 years

If you put a battery in the unit, it will beep a reminder at a one year interval. Like any filter, though, it will last according to its use. For example: a family of 4-6 or just a couple or a single person. Just use your best judgment with the one-year reminder,

My 2 came with the black flat washer. Also, I had mine tested for arsenic removal Dropped raw water from 0.015 down to 0.003 mg/l........Great.
