Q: is there a way to put a tiny lock on it, like a luggage lock?

We added a tiny lock. It hangs down past the box but still works. We used bread bag tie wires to make two loops - one through the tip of the closure and one through the wood under the clasp. We poked through the wood with a thumb tack and poked the wire through. The two loops in the lock hold it closed.

Q: Has anyone ever tried wood burning or wood carving with these? Do you think it would work?

I think burning would work but too thin to carve.
