The kit includes fifty different species. The contents of the identification kit vary depending on the availability of wood veneers, but will include a wide range of domestic, exotic and figured veneers.

Q: Does veneer mean it's fake wood? Or is it genuine wood?

veneer is real wood that is made by a sharp knife slicing a thin sheet of wood from a turning block of wood. This veneer is then glued and clamped to a less desirable piece of wood, saving money, and placing the expensive wood(veneer) where the eye can see it.

Yes, these are rather thin, like a veneer sheet. The entire stack is about 1.25" thick.

Sometimes the "product dimensions" in the detailed description is the "dimensions" of the shipping package for some reason. Veneer is always extremely thin, and the top description says 50, 4" x 9" samplesVeneer
