HunterFan Company 53118 Hunter 48" Sea Wind Indoor/Outdoor Low Profile Ceiling Fan, Matte Black Finish

Hunter fans provided another in a long series of satisfying ceiling fan purchases. I’m honestly not sure why anyone buys any other brand. Straightforward installation without surprises, whisper quiet operation and good looks. Not much more to be said. Oh, this one has molded plastic blades for outdoor use, if desired, and it’s a nice medium size.

These fans (I bought 2 for my patio here in hot ,humid Texas) are beautiful! Very straight forward, they DO NOT have a light on them ( I didn't want lights, lights draw bugs at night!) nor do they come with a remote but my feelings are unless you have a physical impairment that keeps you from pulling a little chain ( I'm 62 with an arthritic back and Diabetes) you'll do just fine. I had to explain to my 18 years younger Husband of 21 years (Feb 4TH anniversary) about Hunter fans, He was struck by the obviously larger motor on these fans ( much larger and powerful than the indoor fans that came with our recently purchased 9 year old house) and I told him that Hunter had been making fans since before he was born in 1971 and the reason they are STILL in business is because you can depend on their quality. These fans are "classy " looking, and WHISPER quiet when they're on, I'm astounded that I got them at this price!

We purchased (2) Hunter ceiling fans. The installation was simple, and straightforward. I found that the fan blade/icons didn’t fit great, they were tight, but with patience I was able to complete the task without too much frustration. The finished installation was appealing to the eye. The fans are quiet, and work well. We’re very pleased with these fans, bring on summer.

We bought this fan for our new front porch.We wanted a Hunter, because we knew and trusted the brand. All of our fans a Hunters. We wanted a ceiling hugger, because we didn't want to take the blades off with the change of the seasons. We live in northwest Minnesota, where the winters are brutal. The winds whip around the corner of the house where the porch is, so we needed a fan that wouldn't rock. This winter was colder and more windy than normal. We've had ambient temps of -25° and windchills of -45°. This fan hasn't moved! The blades spin a little, but not much! I just turned it on, and it's running like a champ after all this bitter weather! Gotta love it, I sure do!

Like ease of install and quiet.Did not like that the vertically installed screws to support the fan did not include lock washers or lock-tite.The screws that support the fan motor to the top plate did contain lock-washers. There is no good reason for this 'oversight' from Hunter fan. Maybe my fans were just an oversight, but then again, they probably saved 5 cents!

PURCHASED A REFURBISHED SEA WIND FROM THE COMPANY THAT DOES HUNTER FAN REFURBS. IT WAS DEAD UPON DELIVERY.THIS NEW ONE WAS ONLY 20.00 MORE AND WORKS LIKE A GOOD DREAM.

This was so easy to put together. Now my wife can set on our side deck porch and enjoy the warm mornings drinking her coffee and keep cooled off

In searching for a ceiling fan, I noticed on one that there was a CA Prop 65 warning regarding dangerous substances. Then I started looking for details in other fan descriptions and found the same. The Hunter company didn't mention it in the description, so I called them. They confirmed that the warning isn't there because its materials do not contain these substances.I also didn't want a fan with remote control or wall switch, only a simple pull-chain.My electrician was doing other work in the house so installed the fan himself. It was easily done, so I suspect anyone who is handy and works well on a ladder could install it easily.I couldn't mark stars on the "Warmth" category if that meant when the fan blades reverse and send warm air down. Winter hasn't started quite yet around here. But we did check that the switch that reverses direction, and it works!I'd buy again, possibly for another room in the house.
