Q: How many square feet will this fan service

At least a 1500 square foot basement, probably a good deal more. It evacuates the air from under the slab, so if you have 4" of crushed stone and drain tile around the edge it will work better as the air is more free moving under the slab.

Q: Is the rp145 a direct replacement for the fantech rn2?

Goggle and cross reference the 2 for compatibility. If the cfm’s are the same or similar you should be fine. Make sure your venting pipe are the same or you may need to pipe enlargers or reducers to complete install.

Q: Will this fan work in horizontal and vertical positions?

It's designed for vertical orientation only.
