Q: Does adding to a homemade protein shake in high-speed blender affect properties or effecticeness?

I'm sorry, never added this to a shake, I seen a video on YouTube and the lady was taking it out of a tablespoon I have completed my bottle some time back.

Q: Please don't answer unless you know. What is the expiration date?

The expiration date will vary based on the time of purchase since the vendor should be supplying Amazon with fresh inventory. I was annoyed when I purchased mine that it was scheduled to expire in 2 month (May 2018) at the time. I ended up throwing most of it away.

Q: With everything else so healthy, why use preservatives at all?

This property is attributed to its slightly acidic nature that prevents the growth of microorganisms and thus prolongs the shelf life. It is widely used in the packaging of canned fruits, vegetables, dairy products (cheese and yogurt), and meat products (beef ad fish).
