Does what it says it does.
Used for sharing an input for guitar and microphone to amplifier. Mic has to be on for the instrument to work. Don't use for amplifier input but otherwise does what it says it does with both channels sounding decent.

I use this to split the output
I use this to split the output into two mini amps. Many times one mini amp will distort too easily so if you use two many amps with the output cut down you will have less distortion and control the sound and control the sound. Very hard to get a nice Mellow sound out of mini amplifiers but if you split them as I suggest you can actually get a nice jazz tone. Remember since you’re splitting the output you are not going to gain more sound or more power but you will gain more control over the tone.

Good cords Hosa comes thru again
The Hosa brand is just quality stuff, I have had their cords in my home studio for years now with no troubles. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking for affordable yet quality made cords. These adapters work great for taking 2 sources into one input and I have a drawer full of various input output Y adapters for various ideas or needs. 5 star as usual Hosa doesn't disappoint!

Nice to have, but careful how you use them.
These little units are great for splitting a 1/4 inch signal, ie, playing your guitar/effects into two amps simultaneously. However I bought these for the opposite reason: to combine two signals. And for that purpose they are not very well-suited.I split my effects chain into dry and wet (before a volume pedal and delays) to control the amount of delay. Then I need to re-join the signal before my reverb. I'm not very knowledgeable of the electronics side of it but there are impedance issues at play here and it really screwed up my signal. There was awful feedback at any level of volume or delay and some other really weird issues going on. Fortunately I was careful and didn't blow up any of my pedals by cramming two inputs into one, but I believe there is potential to damage your effects in this manner. Just google "Why Not Wye" to read some articles about the issue if you're considering this--I wish I would have done so before buying these but I'm sure I can find another use for them sometime so it's not a total waste. So basically, be careful if using this as a 2 in -> 1 out. It doesn't say it anywhere on the product page but these are meant for 1 in -> 2 out. I ended up getting a mini mixer unit to solve my problem and that works much better for combining signals safely and even allows for volume control on each input.

Nice cable.
Enabled me to jack a modeling amp into the fx loop of a DSL40 and retain the use of the Marshall's input. So two guitars at the same time, both with pedals or effects. Best $10 ive ever spent. Also, how yall got the USPS to deliver it on a Sunday, I have no idea.

Go Hosa! Great passive mono instrument splitters
I purchased 2 of these and connected them so that I could plug in the bass guitar to only a single place and it would be split and go out simultaneously to two amplifiers and a computer interface. It is simple and works great. It is all mono. I was fortunate enough to not have issues as other reviewers mentioned as these are not flakey. Contrary to that is that they have very good connections and are built well. Just being curious, searched for and I could not find a stand-alone box type splitter that would do the same thing and be completely mono. What was available are all overpriced and overly complicated for what was needed here. This is simple and it works great. I would highly recommend this Hosa YPP-111 1/4" TS to Dual 1/4" TSF Y Cable!
