Q: Will this work on half carpet half hardwood? We have a low pile rug down and my desk is on the hardwood floor but my chair goes half over the rug.

As long as the carpet & hardwood floor is basically even, it should work. But if one is much higher then the other, it may be a problem. I would try to find a big piece of cardboard, lay it down, roll your chair (while you’re siting) over the carpet & wood floor. If that works, then this should.

No it is not slippery. There is a texture to it. It is designed to go on top of carpet or rug so if you place it on a hardwood or tile floor it will slide.

Q: I need to put this under a desk. How wide is the top part (or the lip looking part)?

Don’t like this low pile carpet pad because it dose not stay in place because it doesn’t grab on to carpet.
