Q: Does it still have the tripod mounting screw hole like the old version?

It does not appear to have a threaded opening for a tripod mount. There is a small indentation in the base but it does not look like it would hold any type of mount or if it did, it would be very flimsy.

Yes, works great bought 2 in the course of 3 years cause I have 1 to my mom and had to purchase another. Works like new.

Q: does this have a wire input?

If you are referring to an audio jack, then no. I believe it is Bluetooth only input.

Q: what is the difference between Boom 3 and Mega Boom 3

The MegaBoom (MB) is larger. Both in height and width slightly. The biggest difference is the sound, much better bass & clarity between the two. I bought a regular boom once and returned it immediately. Much happier with the MB, we own 2.
