Smells toxic all the time
Update 11/16/2024 - The pre-installed wick was too short causing the fumes.I ordered a replacement wick when I purchased it. The instructions do not match the heater and were poorly written. It says to pull the metal wick housing straight off that is actually torqued on and locked in place with slots. The metal sleeve that holds the wick does not fit back into the housing without bending it, which causes the pins not to line up making it impossible to put back together. The gasket it sits on was in the actual tank for the kerosene. It could have fallen when we took it apart but there were small black pieces in the tank so I don't think so.We spent three hours on what should have taken minutes. My son had a massive nosebleed while we were working on it. The pieces are now in the box on the porch. The return window to request a refund closed yesterday! We are out $145 and looking for a heater for the winter. This heater has been a real bad experience._______________________This heater gives off a lot of fumes. I wanted to give it a chance because I really like the size and length of time the kero lasts, but it doesn't matter how long I leave it outside after starting or what the wick setting is, it fills every room with fumes.Disappointing. I live in a trailer, so the heat pump runs constantly all winter, it never seems warm in here and the electric bill gets very high. We bought a 23,500 btu kero heater from the hardware store last winter. Running it for a few hours in the morning & evening was enough but 23.5 produced too much heat and used too much fuel, however, once it was warmed up outside and was brought in, there were no noticeable fumes. I researched all summer for this 10,500 btu heater.I gave it 2 stars because it shipped great, looks great, it does heat and the kero lasts. But due to the fumes, even with the doors and windows open, I'm going to have to get another heater from the hardware store and get rid of this one.

Great, even fun little heater!
Great little heater. Be sure to run it dry on each tankful for best results, and to keep the wick clean. UPDATE to what I said here a few years ago. It is December 25, 2019. I still have this heater and is working great. Am glad that replacement wick I put in is shorter. The original wick was too tall which made it flare up and smoke when first lit, requiring me to have to turn the knob down past the next click so it burns at proper height. The replacement wick from KeroWorld is sized just right.

Good
It was exactly what I ordered and arrived earlier than expected just a little to small to heat a two car garage.

works well
Gives out nice warm glowing heat. Shows more flame (safely) than the Sengoku OR -77 I have also used. Also I've found I can start it up inside the house with minimum smell. ( all kero heaters give off some smell when lighting and putting out) Real cozy feel, perfect for my small living room on a cold winter night. Although I have to pay an outrageous 5.69$ per gallon for kero here on eastern Long Island, New York I still love using it. And it does not smell at all. Repeat to your wife, husband, relatives- kerosene heaters when working properly give off no smell!

Flame adjustability
Let me explain my rating. I absolutely love the heater but 1 issue is significant enough to lower my rating on it. That is flame ADJUSTABILITY. The knob runs out of adjustment to keep the flame at the recommended 1/2 burn height. That really saddens me. I think the wick can't be readjusted on the raising mechanism because it is buttoned or pinned in. So this heater will only be used in a loss of power or truly emergency situation. I hoped I would be able to use it to help out on my heating bill or to provide heating comfort to a specific room, sadly not.

Good product
This little heater runs a long time on a tank. It's great for taking the early morning dampness out and isn't too heavy for me to move around. It also puts out a lot of light which is handy if power is out. It was really easy to assemble.
