Q: In what country is the butter dish made?

I did an extensive search and after looking at all the questions on Amazon someone said they are from China! Amazon should do a better job of listing origin of product. Maybe it said on the package but didn't notice. That being said, and I understand your concern, the product is good. H Weber I would like more products from USA than China.

Q: I hate to break it to all you butter dish makers, but the only dimensions anyone wants are the inside dimensions. what size does it hold?

There are two sizes for this butter dish on Amazon. One fits a single stick of butter and the other a wider, double stick. You'll have to search and find the size you want. I have both.

Q: Will this hold a regular block of cream cheese without rubbing the sides?

This particular whale butter dish will not hold a block of cream cheese. It is small and fits a standard stick of butter. There is another one that looks exactly like this that I have that holds equivalent to two widths of butter. That one will hold a cream cheese block.

Q: does the larger size fit a European butter like Kerry Gold?

It would be a tight fit and might stick to the sides of the lid. But I had some of the European double size butter and I cut it in half lengthwise. Perfect fit. For me it is well worth the trouble. Even my husband loves this butter dish.
