Llyfr Glas Nebo - Enillydd y Fedal Ryddiaith 2018

I read this in English. Mae’n ddrwg gen i. I bought the Welsh one to practise my Welsh. It is a very good read. The Welsh version gives the children different, more Welsh names and I think the translation spoils the ethos of the original story by leaving out some of the traditional Welsh cultural stories less familiar to English readers. But that is a minor criticism. I really loved the book and it made me think.

As a Welsh language learner Ifound this to be the most enjoyable of the many books I’ve read. It is beautifully written and speaks to us of what is most important in our lives. Postscript: I tried to submit the above in Welsh, which seemed only right. Sadly, the review was rejected.

Great tender story about importance of family.

Bought for daughters school work. No complaints from her so I assume it was fine.

A beautiful and moving book, written in Manon's usual lucid Welsh that makes her books perfect for the moderately advanced learner.
