It is absolutely NOT airtight. The lid fits but basically just rests on top of the container

Q: Can you store used oil in this in the refrigerator?

I don’t see why not. I store my strained bacon grease in the refrigerator. Just want to add that I have been very pleased with my Chihee oil strainer pot. Everything about it has been exactly as advertised-comfortable handle, perfect sized mesh, tight fitting lid. Hope this answers your question adequately.

The lid is snug enough. Any tighter and you’d be more likely to spill contents pulling it off. You need to be able to quickly pop off the lid and pour bacon drippings through the mesh strainer and keep on cooking. Great design for practical professional daily use. When I’m in the kitchen I’m moving fast. This great item does the job—never slows me down. Love it.

About 55 percent of stuff is made there. You can just tell by the name and descripton/details thats its most likley made in China,
