When replacing windows we tried three types of peel and stick tape3M 8067--very stretchy and harder to cut since it sticks to scissors/knifeTypar Butyl--slightly easier to work with but gets black butyl on toolsPella Butyl from a blue box store--the best, but costs a bit more

Sticks very very well but don’t try it during warm weather; it makes a mess.
You have learn to work with a very sticky adhesive. Once mastered, it is very effective.
